Hisense TV Not Working with Chromecast

Hi everyone.
I just bought a hisense HDTV HL66V88 for $40 from op shop.
The remote doesn't work but the problem is l plugged in a chromecast and the picture is snowy and unclear and there is no sound but it bursts sounds every now and then.
My question is can l fix this or should l return the TV? I don't want to spend too much money fixing it l will already have to get another remote, if l keep it.
Thank you in anticipation
Regards,
Nettie

Phux sake it’s $40 what did you expect

    • I would be thankful if I didn't get electrocuted regardless of whether it or not worked.

you can get a remote here maybe then try fiddle with settings to correct issue

    • Yes thanks for that Steve l will be buying a remote from Ebay for sure

  • Can you try another device, like a DVD player, on the same HDMI port and/or the Chromecast on another TV?

    • Thanks Daz, the chromecast works fine on another TV

  • Return the TV.

    • Yes thanks Xuqi l think l will do that.
When you use a chromecast the picture quality should be clear unless there is something wrong with the TV or slow internet.
The problem isn't the internet. It's a bummer because l was hoping l got a bargain, not a lemon ;-)

      • It's a digital HDMI signal so should be clear. If you're getting the type of weirdness you're experiencing then it may be a fault with HDMI port, or some sort of issues between it and the Chromecast. Neither will have an easy fix, so easiest to return and try your luck with another TV.

  • If you try something else on the HDMI port is it fine (might be the HDMI port itself?), also if you have a USB keyboard I'm wondering if you can plug it in and get into menu from there (so you don't have to buy a remote?).

    • Hi Trust,
I do have a USB keyboard. How do l use it as a remote? Thank you for the information

      • Hay mate, unsure if its the same tv but I think the manual is at: http://s.productreview.com.au/products/manuals/125164_559dfc…

On page 10 you can see the backside of your tv, looks like there may be 3 HDMI plugs, do they all have the same issue? Number 9 shows where the USB plug is, some tvs allow you to plug in your keyboard and the random keys allow you to move through settings etc.

        • I tried the DVD d player in the same HDMI and it worked fine. Now l am confused as to why the chromecast didn't work but l am happy that something works!
I will try the keyboard and thank you for the info, you have been very helpful

  • Did u try download the free sure app for a remote until u get another 1. I use the app on the bedroom TV.

  • Might be a long shot but try switching between PAL or NTSC on the google hone app.
