What to Do with 12 Bottles of Wine?

Long story short - I recently bought a case of 12 mixed red/white 'premium' wines from Qantas but can't drink them (my GP just put me on meds pretty much for life that don't mix well). I'd be happy to sell the case at a loss, but have asked friends & colleagues, and no luck. And can't sell publicly since I don't have a license.

Any creative ideas? The idea of giving them all away kind of annoys me!

Depends how premium, but maybe use a broker

    • Not that premium I'm afraid! Paid $350 for the 12, offered to friends/colleagues for $250 but no dice.

Just give one bottle to each person that come to your house from Tomorrow.
Could be friend, family, post guy, pizza delivery guy, doesn't matter.

Keep it. There are dishes that need a little wine.

      Not $30 a bottle wine!

      • Yes, the keep for dinner party present is a better option. I didn't realise OZBers buy $30 bottles of wine!

Bring a bottle of wine to all dinner parties and get togethers you go to. You'll be very popular. Or save them for Christmas presents for extended family.

Thanks all! Appreciate the quick replies and suggestions… I guess I'll be a popular guest to invite over for a while :)

  • Sell raffle tickets for a draw, to win the wines?

  • Use them as gifts birthday, housewarming, Christmas, wedding what ever.

I don't really think the liquor licence board would be interested in some one selling 12 bottles of wine but I don't think anyone who appreciates fine wine will be looking on Gumtree.

  • Call Qantas up and return them if it's still within 90 days of purchase.

  • Use them for the only thing wine/alcohol is good for of course, in cooking!

Donate to bikies. You never know when you'll need their services.

  • Have a think of those people who had been kind to you.
Give them a bottle or two. They will appreciate it very much.

  • 1) gifts
    2) long shot but try go to a dan murphys, tell them you've gotten wine as a gift but you cant drink it, if u could get a refund (that being said, needs to be something they stock)

  • Take some into town next time you go, and when you get asked by the beggars for ‘a dollar for a coffee’, ask them if they’d like a bottle instead. See how long it takes to get rid of em all.
