Ariston AVXL105 Washer - Repairs Needed

Hi all, our washer has started doing some strange things and I think we need a tech to come service/repair it.

Firstly, everything seems to work, its just that it doesn't do things properly any more.. There are 2 key issues:

1 - It often doesn't drain properly, which means we need to run an extra spin cycle, usually after opening it and spilling water all over the laundry floor of course.

2 - The control knob that selects the type of wash has broken and we're no longer sure exactly which wash type is selected.

Anyway, it needs some TLC, can anyone recommend a service tech for this brand in inner-west Sydney (Drummoyne)?

Or does anyone here have any similar experience with these washers that they can share?

Any help will be much appreciated!

hi, i repair front loaders as a hobby.

to have someone look at it would probably not be worth it.

Aldi are selling 6kg front loaders this week for $349. probably better to get one of those (or a second hand decent machine) than call out of the tech would be at least $100 for the callout fee alone and then any new parts - only new & would be expensive.

the draining issue could be an issue with the controller board. or it could be the impeller of the drain pump is gunked up. or it could be the water level controll/reader.

the impeller /pump - unplug the machine first - check the drainage hole (remove the bottom front plate and turn the round plug anticlockwise - water will flow out so have some towels underneath- get a torch and shine in there looking for any obstruction - coins, hairclips or hair - clean it out. here is a link to the manual and how to clean the pump

water level controller - may need a new one.

Or - some washing cycles do not include automatic draining at the end of certain wash cycles- so you have manual choose the drain function afterwards. I see that in page 11 of the above attached manual. I found this occurs with an Asko front loader I just repaired - the "light" cycle does not autodrain. so you need to check the correct wash cycle.

the broken knob - hard to know exactly what is required with out a photo but the easy solution is probably a new front panel - [this dude on ebay is selling a used one for ~$100 delivered](riston Arcadia Washing Machine Display PCB Module ARXF125 ARXF125(AUS).C). fairly simple to install. just some bolts and disconnect the wiring and the water pipes in to the soup dispenser.

    • sorry wrong control panel - can't see correct one available (but only rudimentary search) .

Probably not worth paying a profesional to repair.

You can probably get a new control nob and fit it yourself. Check the pump is not jammed (there will be a YouTube video on how to do this)

guys - thank you so much for your advice here!
I've cleaned out the pump at the bottom - low and behold there was a 10c piece in there that I think was the culprit for the drainage issue as it seems to be doing just fine now.

The control panel piece that's broken is a big round plastic knob/dial, something has snapped on it somewhere as the whole thing just kinda popped right out - its spring loaded.. I'll check that guy's ebay site for a replacement, maybe I can fix that myself as well. I think the actual controller board and circuit is still fine, its just the physical switch/selector has broken..

Thanks again though, really appreciate your advice - massive props to altomic!
