  • Good deal but will probably drop further in the coming months and more so towards Christmas as the a7IV was just announced.

      you mean the a7RIV?

      • Yeah sorry the A7RIV.

    • I think Sony will increase A7 IV price, instead of drop A7 III's price.

I saw a video on the new model. Personally (as an amateur) I think 24 MP is the sweet spot.
IMO unless you are a pro and actually require the resolution. 60 MP will just slow you down & cost you more (with memory etc).
Even shooting at 24 MP when I share the photographs with others, I always get them telling / reminding me to reduce the size of the photo. I think 24 MP is just about right, but it seems most people these days are happy with Instagram resolution.

      • I agree. Shooting at that file size is cumbersome to your laptop/desktop and can get very expensive in terms of storage.

        • On my Canon 200D @ 24MP each photo ranges from 2-6 megabytes on highest quality JPEG (sometimes less than 2mb for Monochrome).
I really like the JPEG processing using custom picture profile settings (I think Fuji users also like their JPEG’s: I actually use Fuji’s film preset equivalent settings for Canon profile) and I get it right in camera most of the time so it’s great, just the right file size IMO. Also I think Canon have smaller file sizes compared to other brands, at least for JPEG.

Sometimes I wonder if the highest medium quality (11MP) would give better results in some way, and also save me the process of reducing image size when sharing.
But then again it’s always good to have a high resolution to fall back on (cropping or printing large). So I am sticking to 24MP for now.

  • I ordered one on eBay a few days ago from Videopro, was 2600+. 20% off up to $300. Which brought the price to $2342 Inc postage. Was best I could find. Then a day later digidirect had them for 2250.80 with free shipping. Applied for best price guarantee with eBay and got a $150 voucher to buy another genuine battery and a dual battery charger with.
So A7iii was $2192 in the end.

    • Interesting. Videopro actually reduced their price to $2368 ($2082.85 after discount) but it didn't last long.

      • I thought I seen that price on it in my watched items list momentarily. That's a really good price if anyone on here snapped one up at that.

      • Just got a further $260 refund from Videopro, $1932 A7III. Insane!!
