Uber Eats Increased Delivery Fee?

I live in Melbourne's south east region and the stores on uber eats now charge a variable fee for delivery, seems to have started a week or two ago and seems to be calculated on distance from store or set by the store itself, has this occurred for anyone else?

Also, has Uber started releasing the dine-in/pick-up option for Melbourne yet?

errr way longer than that it started, been here for over a month.

has this occurred for anyone else?

2 second google would show its happening everywhere

seems to be calculated on distance from store or set by the store itself

All the above, I have places that offer $1.99 delivery fee up to $7.99 all from the same shopping complex, so the distance is the same.

I'm guessing Uber is allow the store to increase the delivery fee, and lower the commission taken (Uber used to take around 35% of the food total, not sure what they take now with this new delivery fee arrangement).

    • actually i was always ordering on internet explorer and it only changed recently, seems when I use incognito on chrome the delivery fee is back to $5 for most stores, (increases for some, decreases for some), so i guess doing this can save $3 until they fix this method

      • interesting, the 'app' changed about 6 weeks ago for me.

I don't use Ubereats much, but now most places I want to order from are $8, I order even less and just drive the 5 mins and go pick it up myself.

Silly Uber, trying to get greedy means less sales from me now.

  • +1

I just keep refreshing the free delivery options until one I like appears.

  • A restaurant doesnt have any say in how much delivery fee is imposed on their store. Ubereats charges delivery fee to the user based on how far the restaurant is from the user. A restaurant still pays the same commission (38.5%) inc GST. The delivery fee goes to ubereats and not to the restaurant. Uber eats then pays the driver a pickup and delivery fee based on the time and km's. But its funny how they say on their app that delivery fee is to cover the delivery costs of the restaurant.😂

    • Because UberEats want to try avoid any responsibility. Not yet it worked with the accc anyway.

And if you value the restaurants you patron, don't use the dine in option. Give Uber a cut for doing absolutely nothing..

The only reason most restaurants are using Uber is because they have no idea of their costs. Guarantee you that 80% make zero to afew dollars at most on most Uber orders. It's disgusting.
