Seeking recommendation on USB 3.0 hub

Hi, I am looking for a usb 3.0 hub (mainly to transfer large video files from SD card to PC's SSD). Came across the Anker ones after search but whilst some reported good experience, some reported theirs melted during use. Came across the Alogic ones.

Seem to price well but i couldn't find any review whatsoever and if this unit is fast? Read some reviews elsewhere that some usb 3.0 hubs are actually super slow.

Looking for comments and recommendations please?

  • Belkin/Sandisk is a safe bet but are unlikely to be priced competitively. Anker should be solid and any issues that arise should be resolved by now as they pump out tons of product updates every year (assuming it's their fault). Anything else (e.g. Chinese rebrands of generic units) is hit and miss. I would suggest buying from somewhere reputable/Amazon so you have good customer support if it goes bang.

  • Check your SD card class first. You might well be bottlenecked by its read speed long before you reach USB3.0 speeds.

Other than that, check camera sites/forums, since they use SD cards a LOT and place a lot of importance on them, such as:

    • I have the 95MB/s and the 170MB/s ones….

  • We have 2 TP-link 7 port hubs +2 smart charger ports and have had zero issues with either of them. Can't tell you the specs on our transfers as I never pay much attention to it but so far it has not been so slow that I feel the need to complain. https://www.mwave.com.au/product/tplink-uh720-7port-usb-30-h… this does not have the smart charger on it https://www.ple.com.au/Products/617945/TP-LINK-UH700-7-Port-…
