That isnt very cheaper when you compare it to similar from Xiaomi Sensors and Gateway

      • WRONG

Edit source: have 60 Xiaomi aqara sensors in my house.

If you hate mihome you can always use homeassistant. And if you hate the hub you can always make a few ZigBee2mqtt dongles

        • Mi Home does not work with my Samsung phone. Alarm is not ringing. Can homeassistant operate the Alarm System? The Alarm System is my top priority.

          • @bbtlovebbt: My friends phone also didnt function with it. I had to do a factory reset on his phone for a particular reason then suddenly the app functioned as normal

            • @jackwoz: worked with my note 8 / 9 and pixel phones

          • @bbtlovebbt: Works perfectly fine with mine

        • 60? hmm.. your sensors must have their own set of sensors :O

          • @inamberclad: theres a fair few gateways yes

            temp for every room
every window door and entryway, plus buttons…it all adds up

        • It must be a large home

        • +1

Wait you have 60 temperature/humidity sensors in your home?

          • @deelaroo: no only 9 of those

rooms + one in the freezer to warn me if the temp creeps up

        • Wow, i thought i have a lot with 20 sensors. What is the limit of devices per gateway?

          • @jackwoz: about 20 in practical terms . you can add upward of 35 per gateway however

the little mqtt zigbeesniffer sticks can do ~15-18 each

            • @ndftz: Why practical terms? What can happen if i use the full 35?

        • They're partially correct, as the Xiaomi hub isn't great.

          • @magic8ballgag: Where is this source, i run a xiaomi hub with no issues what so ever, with 30ish sensors (Door/Window Sensors, Motion Sensors, Water sensors and Temperature Sensors)

            • @asa79:

              Where is this source

The same place the source of it being great is?

              • @magic8ballgag: Do you own one? I do and havent had any issues with it, and its just worked perfectly for the last nearly 2 years, automatically hooks into Home Assistant, and sensors last for years on a single button battery.

So what do you find so bad about them?

                • @asa79:

                  Do you own one?

Of course, I wouldn't say it wasn't great if I had never used one.

So what do you find so bad about them?

Mine occasionally drops off the network and requires a reboot to regain functionality, but with that being said it has been more stable since it's recent firmware update.

                  • @magic8ballgag: What WiFi you using

                    • @asa79:

                      What WiFi you using

What do you mean? Like hardware? Frequencies?

                      • @magic8ballgag: yea, maybe your having wifi issues, as I am running Unifi AC Pro and not a single drop out

      • what are you on about?

    • The whole China/ Singapore thing is dickie, and there are issues when using Yeelights etc. That said, running it through something like Home Assistant makes these issues mostly go away.

The advantage with this posted unit is that it is compatible with some of the Zigbee devices from other manufacturers and is listed as Zigbee compliant. The Xiaomi is not Zigbee compliant and will only work with its own devices.
