Solo Victorian Getaway via PT < $500. (Geelong Maybe).

Hi,

I'm looking for a getaway for a week a solo trip via PT (can't drive) v-line perhaps,
for under $500 (including food/spendings) that's relatively safe (by definition, a girl can walk alone down the street at night). Looking at staying at an air bnb, exploring the area by day, might go to the theatre/dinner at night, if it's safe, if not getting takeaway/delivery food service for dinner and staying in.

Looking at Geelong West, Corio, Hamlyn Heights. Currently gathering info on bus timetables and locations, close to town and all that. Do you have any recommendations?

TLDR; Solo female planning first trip
From the city, so not looking to stay there
Can't drive, so traveling via PT
4-5 days, Budget $400-500
Recommendations?

Any tips appreciated as I've never planed a trip or been anywhere by myself before (but have planned for clients).

Thanks,

You want a safe place? How about going to one of the places you've previously planned for your clients where they've gone and have come back alive?

  • Probably start with jumping on bus to GOR or Phillip Island. They take you around and bring you back to Melbourne in the evening.

  • Check out this site. You can get a pass that you can travel wherever for 2 weeks - month. You can even sleep on the train:

In regards to where to go, I think every place will have potential safety issues. But I personally think Warnambool is nice and love Portland/Cape Bridgewater.

  • Vline trip to Geelong can cost 13$ approx.one way in peak or 10$ off peak one-way. Geelong is safe in day time atleast ESP if relying on PT. Drugs abuse is issue around that area to some extent so avoid night lonely walks. Same can be anywhere but be mindful.

  • Albury is a great base for exploring Wodonga.
