Dash Camera with in-Built Power

Hello,

I've been researching some dash cams and all of the ones that i have found so far requires the engine to be on or requires you to buy some gimmick that costs $300+. My car also only has usb connection so i cant get the Power Magic Pro.

Does anyone know/ can recommend a dash cam that has an inbuilt power bank. Doesnt have to be big. Just enough to last a few hours until the engine gets turned on again.

I sense confusion. What kind of connection do you think you need for the Power Magic Pro? And what do you think will be powering your power bank?
Edit: if you must, you can just buy a power bank to attach to the dashcam. Plenty to choose from.

    • Was hoping for a dash camera with in-built battery. Not needing to buy anything external to keep the dash cam on even when the engine is off.

      • I've never seen such a product. You'd either need a conventional USB power bank or a product like the Power Magic Pro. Good luck :-P

        • Thanks :(

  • You want it hard wired in

    • Too messy. I dont mind spending the money

Get an auto electrician to hardwire it in. Will look completely clean. But will cost you.

THIS!!! I bought Thinkware Dashcam on one of the eBay 20% off codes and used Airtasker to get a qualified guy to come around to my place and install it. Did a great job! Cameras (i got front and back) are on even when the car is off to catch somebody hitting my car when I am in the shops! Guy I got cost about $90 per car to install, I did 2 cars so $180 to install and hardwire both cars.

          • @2ndeffort: Location? I want to do the same can you give me his contacts please?

            • @jaykay: I am in Melbourne's Southeast. Guy I had do the install was Lindsay from 'On the move Installs' Ph 0417301719

  • Go Pro on the dash

Built in power-bank camera mounted to your windscreen + direct sunlight = bomb on your windscreen? Lol. I don't think it exists.

  • They don't have inbuilt power banks because batteries like heat as much as the polar ice caps do. Maybeamacy isn't joking - thermal runaways lead to explosions/fire. At most, a dash cam will a capacitor which will last about 1/100th of the time you're looking for.

A hardwire kit correctly installed is neat, hidden, and is designed to keep the dash cam running for "a few hours until the engine gets turned on again".

  • Blackvue or similar. If you get the magic pro it will keep camera going for a set time or car battery level. They also have a battery pack in can be connected to, but say located in glove box. All needs to be wired in.
