Looking for New PC - Need Help!

Hey I'm new to the PC community and practically know nothing about PC components. Have been playing PS4 and want to switch to PC for a better gaming experience. I have been looking around for a decent PC for the last week but I'm easily confused when dealing with 'RAM', 'CPU' and other important components etc. Because of this I've decided to buy a pre-built PC that can easily be set up and running within a day.

I have found three pre-built computers that I thought seem decent:

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/46958/pccg-plasma-5700-x…
https://www.pccasegear.com/bundle/432/pccg-intel-ghost-gamin…

My budget ranges from $1600 – $2500.
If some PC experts with more general knowledge can view the links and give their personal opinion on it, it would be greatly appreciated. Also any other PC and tips they recommend will also be appreciative. Cheers.

(Should note that I plan on playing and streaming games like Sims, Tekken and Fortnite).

    Do you also need a monitor, keyboard and mouse? A lot of ozbargainers like techfast so you can compare specs there.

    • Thanks Kahn will have a look at techfast!

    This is the best explanation for RAM and CPU (from QUORA)

    RAM is like the trunk in your car. The bigger the trunk, the more stuff you can put in it. This saves you time if you have to move a lot of things because you can move more stuff at once (a smaller trunk means more trips to move a lot of stuff).

    The CPU is the engine. It dictates how fast you can travel, but has no bearing on the size of your trunk. So a faster CPU with a small trunk means more trips, but you will get them done faster than a slower engine, while a slower CPU with a lot of RAM means it will take longer to make the trip, but you won't have to make as many.

    So obviously, the best situation is a fast engine and a big trunk. (Faster CPU and more RAM).

    Now while I am at it I am going to talk about RAM vs. Hard Drive storage. This time we are going to talk about your sock drawer. Your hard drive is like your sock drawer. It holds on to your socks while you aren't wearing them. When you take socks out of your drawer and put them on your feet, that's like moving something from the hard drive to RAM. You might even wear two or three pairs of socks at the same time, but you can't use all the pairs of socks at the same time — which is why you keep the ones you aren't using in the drawer, where you can get at them when you need them.

  • If you want good multi-tasking capabilities while playing games, streaming, watching movies, having chrome open etc. I recommend i7 cores instead of i5 as CPU.

    If you are just planning to play Fortnite, Sims, Tekken and any other low GPU reliant games, i wouldn't go for anything over GTX 1060. I have a GTX 1060 and it runs perfectly on those games at 120 fps.

    • This is my setup - bought 3 years ago

      =====EBAY=====
      CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - $278.20
      Motherboard - ASRock AB350M Pro4 - $104.44
      GPU - MSI GTX 6GB 1060 OC - $440
      Hard drive- Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 1TB - $61.80
      RAM - 16GB G.Skill Ripjawa - $135
      SSD - Crucial 275GB MX300 - $123.20

      ====MSY====
      PSU - Antec VP600P 600W - $72
      KEYBOARD - $69
      Case- $49
      Monitor - $ Asus VP228H - $155

      ====MICROSOFT====
      Windows 10 - $139

      📍TOTAL 📍
      $1142.85 + $190 + $139 + $150
      = $1621.85

      I reckon that if you buy something similar, it will be perfect for the games you play.

      • That looks good Koipanda thanks for sharing your setup! It's good to compare etc. :)

  • All good specs but expensive. You save a lot finding one here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/techfast.com.au

    • Yes it is expensive, will definitely check out that thanks MagicMushroom
