Amazon for SSD Deal Unpublished, Potential Scam Seller?

I just noticed the deal i posted this morning was unpublished.

After reading through the guidelines and then looking at the store more closely i understand why this action was taken.

It appears that the amazon store was just launched and exclusively trades in Lexar products, I am new to Amazon, in fact this has been my first purchase through them… it would appear that I've just been scammed?

Does this seller look dodgy in your opinion? Would you buy of them?

Think I've just been scammed, I guess even if I attempt to cancel the order it will be insta-declined :(

Just Launched seller. Yeah well… probably is a scam.

    • i can't remember the last time i was scammed as a buyer, i don't think it's ever happened.. it's just so easy to spot the risk factors.. didn't even consider it with this purchase, agree with you, think the odds are this is a scam but will have to take mbcks advice and just wait and see

had it been ridiculously cheap i would of thought twice about it.. bah

It's harder on Amazon because the actual seller isn't listed that prominently - AND because Amazon themselves sell things so it's an extra step to check if it's sold by Amazon or by a third-party seller. Though the same applies to eBay and I don't feel the same way about that.. maybe because I'm more familiar with eBay and checking the seller there.

      • Yeah, But as someone told you in a comment below, Amazon should protect you.

I tried buying from just launched sellers before and in most cases, never had problems. Just a couple that the price was below half retail price and the seller didn't publish any real photos, in eBay case, that's why you pay with paypal, so you can claim for any problems with an item.

Good thing with Amazon, is that their customer service is miles better than eBay's.

And yeah, it happened to most of us at least once, we saw a fantastic deal and jump on it only to discover is a scam.

    Amazon should protect you.

    • thanks Nalar, thats reassuring, i hope so

  • The site's rules for Amazon etc are that it has to meet certain criteria, and that involves more than a certain amount of feedback results if they don't have a website separate to Amazon (basically). Hence a no-feedback store won't get posted

    • thanks spackbace, i understand and agree with the action taken here, this post was more about opinion on the credibility of the store itself rather than the policy/actions of ozbargain, great job from the moderator here imho, i just hope they got to the post soon enough if it is in fact a scammer, hate to think i facilitated them

  • Pretty sure it's a scam, contact amazon immediately and try to cancel the order.

Other tell tale sign is that the items are shipped directly, so it's easier for them to lie to Amazon saying they had shipped the item.

  • well looks like the seller was legit and just new

they cancelled the order, got an email from amazon confirm the cancellation and that i wasn't charged, haven't checked but looks legit

  • They cant even bother to put the t in uppercase. Definitely dodgy.
