Woolworths/Passage Foods lemon chicken

Some of you may of noticed pre-packaged 'Lemon Chicken' now available at Woolworths…not sure what the sweet and sour pork is like or other products…BUT STAY AWAY FROM THE LEMON CHICKEN!

I heated it up per instructions…had to throw it out once I got to halfway. It actually tasted and felt like a cleaning product! If it was just plain battered chicken it would of been nice, but the sauce is the absolute foulest concoction I've ever come across in my life…at $8.50 or so a packet. Stay away! Again, if anyone has any feedback about the other chinese products in the deli by 'Passage Foods' feedback would be much appreciated :)

i too have had this and i agree completely, I had to look at the chicken to make sure if was really chicken and the sauce was horrible, some parts being too runny, other too thick (a bit like oj with pulp) the only reason i didnt make much of an issue was i paid about $6 for it, but the other chinese lines dont look too interesting, although i may give the honey and soy chicken a go if its reduced too…

Tal_Shiar, I actually quite like their indian range (go figure) and quite happy with that (although expensive). Was looking forward to the chinese range…I think I might save up and go to a real chinese restaurant next time…

Were on the same page lol

  • So, is this chicken in sauce pre-packaged (ready to cook)?

It's pre cooked, just needs to be re heated

  • i personally have never liked lemon chicken. always reminded me of lemon detergent when i smell and taste it (and not limited to woolies, i mean all lemon chicken i've had in my life)

  • I wondered why people liked my lemon chicken :P

    Chicken pieces…lemon juice…stab stab stab…marinate for 15 minutes, insert in oven, cook….

Tastes beautiful :) I'll definately be giving their sweet and sour pork a try though!

  • Yeah I had "Passage to China" Beef and black-bean. It was decidedly average. Even with me in "ultra-hungry" mode, I struggled to finish it. It just had no strong flavour and didn't taste nice. The price was approaching cheap take-away. As such I'd recommend cheap takeaway instead.
