  • I voted prefer not to say, but I registered as an organ donor over a decade ago when I got my first license.

Fun fact - unless you’re in SA you need to register at the website OP listed. But most importantly, discuss your wishes with you’re family because they get the final say.

Out of curiosity, what blood type are you?

      Asking for a friend.

No idea. They can ask my corpse too, but he won’t know either.

I am a organ donor and on the bone marrow list.

May as well do something worthwhile with your rotting corpse.

    • I'll build a booby-trapped monument to my hubris. That way, I'll be contributing to later generations by helping Darwinise (is that a word? It should be) would-be grave-robbers, leaving only those worthwhile, the Indiana Joneses and Lara Crofts of those generations to survive.

      • That's weird. That is exactly what I plan to do with my remains.

I have always "joked" about being embalmed and displayed on a stone slab in my mausoleum and I've actually taking steps to that end.

        • Reminds me of this poem by P.Shelley:

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert … Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

My older brother was killed in a motorbike accident in his forties. Taxi came through a give way sign and he had nowhere to go. The only good thing that came out of this was my sister in law agreed to donating the organs that were still OK. She was absolutely devastated by what happened but she had the courage to make the decision. I admire her for that, I’m not sure I would be able to face that decision until it was too late to salvage them. I hope I’ve learnt from her if I ever am in that terrible position.

I really wish they made organ donation an "opt out" situation instead of an opt in.

  • I understand it's opt out in Spain. If you agree let the donate for life guys know

Probably a better idea than growing them in other animals like they plan to start doing again in Japan

Nice poem. If you visit Oxford go to university college on the high Street. You can see an amazing tribute to Shelly inside
