Last time warning - You have been here long enough to know NOT to post inactive deals from group bargain sites. Then when its been deleted you are NOT to repost. Got it.

You push the boundaries here and they will bite you back.

      • +15

well there are alot of deals posted that aint active yet. But many mods looked right past and didnt care. They said it was for us to decide. Reckon you should to do the same

        • -8

If you have advice for the moderating team, you should start a thread in the forum or send a private message.

      • dupe

      • just wondering, would posting about a sale that starts this weekend be considered an "inactive deal" since it's not available till then?

Personally I stay away from these group bargain things. After the car wash fiasco I have images of these poor shops being flooded with people wanting cheap deals, who end up getting a half-arsed job as the shop is too busy.

      • +3

Shouldn't Ozbargainers get a heads up prior to deals becoming active before they become Ozbargained? :)

        • +7

When the group bargains first came out, we had no limitation on "until active". But as we got flooded with inactive deals from all the sites, it became unwieldy.

There was a further problem where deals would be posted that never became active. In which case, there really was no deal to be had; it opened up another way for businesses to just get free advertising. (eg 10,000 people have to opt into a deal for Melbournians to receive mystery boxes valued at over $10 or something)

So, allowing inactive deals has already been trialled and it just opens up the site to deals that don't eventuate and increases flooding.

        • I do understand where the mods are coming from with this (as imagine if you click on a deal and it turns out that it didn't become 'active' since a certain amount of people didn't buy/register interest). For deals like these, maybe enforce the requirement of listing after when the deal starts and it is confirmed to be active (most of these 'online 1 day deal' sites update a counter for the target number of people needed for a deal to be active. i.e. If the deal was offered today at 12:00pm AEST, on 22/6, only post these types of 'deals' once the active requirement has been fulfilled and you're certain that the deal is up for grabs from the time you post it. :)

        • Personally I would think that the "until active" is not really necessary given that a good deal would get enough votes by ozbargainers to reach the front page, and subsequently become active or even ozbargained. Bad deals generally get voted down and disappear from us in no time. Those who spam will get blocked in the same way as we treat any other spammers so using this theory we shouldn't really have a problem.

        • Yeah I guess it's really up to the people :) There are too many different kinds of deals out there

  • +26

Does it include everything up to, but obviously not including sex?

  • +55

no sex is a deal breaker now guy :(

agreed with PorkHunt - happy endings ok? I like this one because I can tell my wife i'm getting a massage with NO SEX and just not mention the tuggerific pleasure

  • I put that there stir up a response.

    • +1

so there is or aint happy endings? I'm confused. Maybe u should add to the description

    • -6

yeah ha ha ha…..ha. So very funny. you comedian.

Look its no real big deal and yeah its funny in casual conversation and we all get the joke. But I still don't like the use of it in public forums like this mostly because the joke is associated with a reputable business. I have no problem with having a laugh about the concept in general but not when associated with a commercial enterprise.

Having said that, I'm not the fun police so you can all go about your business. Just expressing my opinion

      • +2

Nanny states - Australia Says NO.

    • I put that there stir up a response.

You, sir, have just admitted to trolling.

I get it that it's nice to have a bit of fun sometimes, but please take the deals section seriously. Do it in the forums if you feel you must spread some laughs. However please do this in moderation. Posting every single question you have as a separate thread in the forums will not help your cause. A blog is more appropriate for that. Just saying…

Now back to the deal, spreets appear to be down. I'm getting redirected to http://hightraffic.spreets.com.au/ with the message:

The Spreets team is making a few improvements on the site right now but we'll be back in a tick!

Reminds me of when I was in Tokyo last year me and a mate went for a massage in Akihabara, We got a brochure off a girl girl dressed in a maid costume, we went up this stairwell to a small room and asked for a massage (without any special endings), then led into to seperate rooms with a couch, there another maid pulled my head onto her lap and cleaned my ears. WTF talk about lost in translation.

    • +1

      lol

    • They mostly fake them.

  • +1

do you get the happy ending if you pay full price ($75)?

  • +1

a happy ending is a must for ozbargainers

    • +1

      Big hands touching you..

  • +7

Just a comment. I don't see the point of having (excessive) moderation within this site, and the negative system.

Why so many rules and barriers to posting information? I simply don't get it. Too many listings here I scroll down at the comments, to get some kind of feedback in regards to the product/service provider, but no, the comments are riddled with complaints against the poster of the offer, for this reason or that. Oh you can get this product for a dollar cheaper from a store you've never heard of, so it's not a bargain.

Gees, shouldnt this site be about the community posting offers for the benefit of other community participants. Shoudn't the tendency be towards praising the poster of such offers, as they did choose to take up their own time by sharing the information.

If the community, the forum dwellers and the mods are to continue to have this negative and complaining attitude then I just don't see how it encourages people to participate.

Sure, I can understand the need for some rules, for some level of establishing that the posts are likely to be of interest and benefit to some but frankly you guys take it too far.

This site should be about informing people of special offers, not berating those that try to do that but somehow infringe upon an arbitrary rule.

    • +2

then I just don't see how it encourages people to participate.

yet, they still do…. weird huh ????????

    • You're right.. there are many people here who are negative towards the poster.
However, even though I generally agree with what you say, I don't see what's wrong with people posting up comments saying "you can get this a dollar cheaper at [whatever shop]". I mean, that's just simple logic right? If you find it cheaper elsewhere, you will go to that place to buy it.

The person suggesting the alternative shop should not berate the OP. It should be a mere comment.
      and
think about it, if the OP never posted it to begin with, then other people who've read the comments would not have known about the cheaper bargain elsewhere. So in that sense, yes they should be thanking the OP, but sometimes the OP just takes it personally and feels personally offended by a red negative (and sometimes users do personally attack the OP).

      • Sure a dollar lower might well be more of a bargain, but that doesn't necessarily detract from the original offer. You won't necessarily buy it from the cheaper store. You may have had a bad experience with them. You may prefer to shop at a store that you're more familiar with.

Exactly, what's wrong with a bit of duplication - it's not necessarily the worst thing in the world.

I think it's only natural for OPs to take negative feedback personally. They're entering a community by doing the right thing and taking their time out to inform others of something that might benefit them. Then they're basically being called idiots for this reason or that.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ozbargains is a great site, and I think it's great that there is an active community, but if there's so much vitriol and hate going round it won't last and won't grow to the extent that it otherwise could. No matter, someone else will come up with an alternative and make it a more friendly place.

  • Can I neg this because of no sex? Obviously not a bargain :D

    • +2

      Obviously not a bargain

why? how much do you normally pay?

  • +5

Hey I just noticed that NO SEX has been removed from the description - does that mean that sex IS included now?

Luv you long time sailor boy (at least 1 hour GI-Joe)

  • +1

If you concentrate on the image posted, the girl is the one giving massage to a person lying directly beneath her head, and she has a helper, for a perfect hourly heavenly massage

  • -3

MOD!this post was ruined by useless comments. time to close this deal down like myer $113 pps deal?

    • +4

The OP brought it on by gratuitously adding NO SEX to the title. If he had left it alone, the deal would have not attracted any humourous attention. We are adults here and we understand that this is not a wink-wink establishment.

Anyway what's the problem? You can still read the description without reading the comments.

  • +4

The NO SEX has been removed. Does this mean there is now sex?

    • +1

      Have mods confirmed this ????
