[Switch] Mario Tennis Aces Free to Play for 1 Week for Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers

1080

Mario Tennis Aces will be free to play between the 7th and 13th of August for all Switch Online subscribers. This includes subscribers on a free 7 day trial. The game can potentially be played in full and completed within the free to play period. This is similar to the Captain Toad free play deal that was announced for the Japanese market; it seems Australia and Europe will get Mario Tennis Aces instead.
Link provided is the article published on Vooks.net but the game will be downloadable for free from the eShop from August 7.

  • Last time this was free, it was limited.

It’s the full game this time, the only restriction is the 7 day free to play period 👌

Dammit! I wanted Captain Toad instead! :(

    • +2

Why not make a Japanese account on your Switch, sign up for a free trial and enjoy both!

      • Probably a good move. In fact I've got a space left in my family sub so I wonder if using my Jpn account in that would work.

      • I thought you had to have a paid membership?

        • A free trial membership should work fine.

  • Title is a bit misleading. Makes it sound like its permanently free.

    • +1

I felt the title was already overly long so wasn't sure how to fit it in. The time restriction details are in the first line of the description, which also appears on the home page listing.

Flogging a dead horse. Online for this game (in Australia) died a long time ago.

    Update Mario Party, Nintendo!

    • +1

That's a shame. Does it have a single player mode?

      • +2

It does. Many reviewers have said the single player mode is a lot of fun.

      • +1

Single player is great! I love the game. But online is dead. As soon as NSO became paid, I essentially kept getting matched with the same three people (if at all). I’d often let the Switch sit searching for 20 minutes or so just to find a match.

        • +1

I agree, single player is fun! You're lucky, 20 minutes is awesome. You will not find anyone at night, you might in the day.

Haha no wonder the guy on gumtree sold it to me for $15.

      • -3

If it's Gumtree, most likely stolen.

        • +1

That's a stupid comment. I don't sell stolen items and I much prefer Gummy than eBay.

          • -2

@[Deactivated]: You are one seller. Lots of video game stuff, power tools, bikes, bike accessories are very cheap on Gumtree. Not the majority, but when you see those odd deals where you go "now THAT IS cheap" there is usually a reason behind it. I've had to not go through with purchases when I've known it is clearly stolen.

        • +1

Yeah that is a stupid assumption on all sellers sell on Gumtree are thieves.
Not trying to judge the guy sold the game to me here but he seems honest and can afford to buy a $30-40 game to resell for $15.

          • -3

@wtfnodeal: Where can I buy this game for $30 new?

            • @serpserpserp: On Gumtree. You can buy used games cheap and resell when you are done with them cheaply too.
Honestly, I don't think a guy lives in a designer house wants to steal a game to resell for the sake of $15. But you may imagine he sells drugs or earns his dirty money from doing crimes to buy the house so anything that is too cheap to be true you should stay away from buying on gumtree.

              • -3

@wtfnodeal: Still don't see it brand new for $30 on Gumtree.

                • @serpserpserp: Did i say new? That's where your problem is. Assume people sell $15 a game means it is stolen. Can't they buy used on gumtree for $30 and sell for $15 later on?

                  • -4

@wtfnodeal: You didn't say buy second hand to sell second hand. That is where your problem is.

                    • @serpserpserp: Then why did assume he bought new? Why did you assume selling $15 likely to be stolen?

    • This.

I thought it was going to be updated all the time! So many Wii mini games that could be ported

  • +1

I've been wanting to get this game for a while to play with my partner, but I've always thought that it looks like the type of game we have a few fun sessions of and then never touch again, and I didn't wanna pay $70 for a single week of game play

    So, yeah. This works well.

  • +3

I just want Wii Sports on the Switch..

  • And get my ass kicked over and over again by some Rosaline player (like my last free-play time with game)…???? Ha yeh no thanks *ponts at head xD

    Nah il prob play xDxD

  • Anyone got it to work? it says I haven't purchase the game.

    • +1

I think the eShop runs on some American timezone, so most likely will be unlocked later this afternoon/tonight

    • Still not working. Currently playing Captain Toad with a Japanese account.

  • +1

Literally no one in online, anyone trying to playa lol

  • +1

It works. You'll need to access the game trial via the switch
