McDonald's App Ordering Failure Nationwide

Just went to pick up a McMuffin on the way to work and was told (after checking out on the app) that the ordering system is down nationwide and I will have to order again.

Of course the teen at the window couldn't give any more information but;

  1. I assume that the original order will be refunded
  2. Expect extra deals due to failure based on response to previous failures.

    You're only charged when you arrive at the store to collect it, not when you checkout.

    I doubt they'd create a new deal just for the failure. Their whole app is a failure.

    • Are you sure? I know the KFC app isn't like that because I had to apply for a refund when the local store system died.

      Edit: Looking at my bank account there appears to be only a single transaction :P

        When you arrive at the store it says on the app that it's processing payment. Once payment has processed it sends the order to the store's screens (and it starts being made).

            @loku123: I generally open the app when I'm a block away and say I'm at the restaurant. By the time I walk in the doors my order is ready.

            And as Spackbace said, app only deals and big orders with customizations. Saves you time at the end of the day assuming you're not plugging in 30 cheese burger meals with each burger being different.

        Speaking of KFC, you can now replace dinner rolls in meals with other sides (like potato&gravy, coleslaw, etc). I remember it couldn't be before but that may have been a while ago.

  • Sometimes they give you a leaflet to redeem for an apple pie or sundae. Pick the sundae because it would taste better than the apple pie for sure

  • Every time I try to use app I get the bouncing loading fries picture ad infinitum. Hopeless.

  • Last week I ordered with the app, selected drive through, and it told me to collect at window. When I got there I was told I hadn't paid. Closed the app and went back in, and selected pickup but was told it still was not paid and in fact the payment had been declined. As there was a stack of cars waiting behind me, I paid with card. Checked a few days later, and had been charged three times. Contacted them, and they graciously have told me they'd refund the two extra charges.

    Personally I would have thought refunding the lot would be nice. What I have learnt is, if I ever use the app again, I'll just use the codes in store. I do not trust paying through it….
