Air Conditioner Damaged from Strata Downpipe Leakage - Can I Get Them to Pay Replacement Costs?

The external rain downpipe (from the roof of the building) damaged my external air-conditioning unit located in the courtyard within my unit, to the point it has to be replaced. Strata has been trying to fix the downpipe leakage for 3 years to no avail.

Can I claim the replacement cost of the external air-conditioning unit on the Strata?

How has water damaged an external unit that is designed to be outside in the rain?

We hose down ours all the time. It doesn’t make sense.

My dad use to do the same with their air conditioning unit. Not to mention being outside rain drenched this unit also.

  • Is this a split system unit that is located outside, the box with fans?

You need to prove the cause of the damage is the leaky downpipe.

We must have a high accident rate in Australia, with citizens left and right becoming Disabled

So the water from the pipe damaged it, but not the water that falls from th sky directly into it? What a strange air conditioning unit.

    • It's the sort of unit that is angling for a payout.

      • May also have UV damage being outside :)

        • SUE GOD !!!
