Not unless the parked car is blocking my driveway or creating a dangerous situation. Why would you snitch on a total stranger who has done no harm to anyone just so that the tax collectors can boost their revenue? I guess there are those types out there unfortunately.

Would you be ok if someone parked on your front yard? Its not harming anyone. Blocking your driveway isn't harming anyone either, don't be a snitch. Lol

coz it's unfair to ppl, often with extra efforts or by paying $, following the rule.

Tried it before, the council sided with the offender even though the evidence was black and white. Must've been easier to fob me off than to issue an infringement.

    • This. I've done the same multiple times. It seems strange as I heard councils are revenuer hunger yet they are not keen on dob reports.

  • Would be easier if you submit it goes straight to the parking officers in the area

Yes, once. A hardworking handyman parked their vehicle across a driveway in a school zone resulting in a large number of pedestrians having to walk on the road. We snapped a few images of the vehicle from different angles showing pedestrians walking around the vehicle onto the road. We then uploaded the images to the council using their online app.

Performing civic duties have never been easier.

    • Do the Rangers then attend site and rectify the hazard?
Or do they just sit at their desk, mashing the "SEND FINE" button with one hand, while unwrapping another Pop Tart with the other?

Blocking a driveway is an offence under the road rules. The images should be enough for the council to issue an infringement notice.

So what did the tradie say when you asked him to move his car?

        • I was more interested to know, if by using this online app, the Rangers would actually attend to rectify the problem (stop school children having to walk in the street), or if they just mash the "Fine" button from their desks.

If it's the latter, what a great example of outsourcing 50% of your job to the community, without the fear of losing it.

          Ah, the public sector.

          • @QW3RTY: Given what we have seen in the news lately I don't think the private sector is doing a bang up job of fulfilling their responsibilities either.

            • @try2bhelpful: You're right. But somebody has to make the Pop Tarts.

              • @QW3RTY: That was MTV in my day. :)

Actually, I think, the worst of this is when Governments outsource providing essentials to private industry. The worst of both worlds, no accountability and pissing our taxes up a wall as well.

            • @try2bhelpful: But the private sector only charges their customers. The public sector charges everyone.

I didn't know about that app but I dob in people who throw cigarette butts out the windows onto our roads all the time. They are a road and fire hazard! I also report people who speed in children's areas

  • I would if it was blocking the driveway into our basement carpark.

6 weeks ago was partly across our driveway, we gave it a push not expecting anything to happen and it rolled 2 metres and hit the gutter as the owner had left it in neutral and the handbrake off.

I have jacked cars up and moved them.

I used to report the neighbour for bad parking at a previous residence as he was a corrupt local politician (his lifestyle far exceeded what his income was capable of giving). It was a coordinated effort with the rest of the street as he was a prize bottom-hole

  • Most authorities wont fine on a photo, as its too easy to edit it.
It is different if there is a hole in the road or some other hazard that wont drive away, they can receive a photo and schedule a fix.
(Disclosure - I got a parking fine on the weekend)

  • Snitch on someone who is not doing the right thing (i.e. parking incorrectly) to somebody else who is not doing the right thing (i.e. councils who do not provide sufficient cheap parking and then slog people for if)… No.

Government is known to price gouge parking or underspend in these areas to promote the use of public transport. How is that right?
