Is There a Better Microwave for The Price (or near to) than a Kmart 34L Microwave?

So I'm on a tight budget and need a microwave asap. I didn't want something small just until I had enough money because then I'd just be wasting money on two so I wanted to get the ideal one and then not have to worry about it again.

I was at kmart and saw their 34L microwave for only $99 and quickly searched online for anything even nearly as good as that from elsewhere but most other shops only start selling the tiny 20L ones at that price! So is the kmart microwave just unbelievable value or is there better for the same price or just a bit more?

  • This is the microwave I'm talking about:

  • Should be fine, I bought a generic $60 microwave from Big W like 6 years ago and it's still fine. Plus the bigger size is necessary I feel as my plates wouldn't be able to fit inside otherwise.

  • I have the cheap kmart microwave and am very satisfied. The only downside is there is a piece of plastic that sticks out and you cant put huge bowls in there. I'd bring your biggest bowl to kmart and fit it in.

on the right in this pic is the bit that sticks out, except in the cheap microwave it sticks out further and affects the size of bowl

    • The plastic cover thing top right? I think when I was looking at it I was able to take it out, probs not meant to tho

      • middle right. looks like a square pyramid with the top cut off.

In the cheap kmart microwave it sticks out a fair way

        • This one doesn't have that anymore

        what do I comment next?

    • You find a lot of them on the side of the road. Often the only problem is the bulbs burnt out.

Make sure you keep the receipt.
I would personally do what Altomic did and buy a decent 2nd hand one if I was on a tight budget.

What makes a microwave decent though? Is it just the volume and power?

I got this one about a year ago for $120 on sale+ asking if they can do better

I’ve loved it so far and have no complaints. If you can haggle them down and the extra $20 is ok for you, I’d recommend it.

  • Buy a 2nd hand panasonic or any solid brand name, even from a hock shop, over kmart low quality electrical appliances. I've been burnt badly with vaccuums etc. Just my opinion.

    What is the brand?
