Dishwasher Recommendations, Child Lock?

I'm looking for a dishwasher under $1000 and not sure what to look for. Any recommendations on best brand or any in particular that have been great for others? I read on another post on here that Bosch is the way to go if made in Germany. Are the cheaper ones just as good?

I also have two little ones and Mr 2 year old thinks pressing buttons is the best thing in the world. I know most have child lock buttons, but is it possible to get a dishwasher with a child lock on the on/off button? He always turns my front loader off mid cycle and I cant really keep him away from a dishwasher like I can with the laundry.
Thanks!

  • I got the Bosch made in Germany one, no issues so far other than using dishwashing power. But way better than Westinghouse one I had earlier. Child Lock is annoying for adults.

    • Child lock is a pain but needed. I'm thinking I'll go for a bosch. It seems to be the better brand. I did look at Westinghouse as well and I like the look of them but they dont have great reviews.

Integrated ones are good as the kids can't see the buttons.

One other gotcha is make sure the kid doesn't climb on the dishwasher lid while it is open flat for loading. Had to get new door very expensive….

    • I have considered integrated but I'd need to get a cabinet made up which is a mission. Might be worth it though.
Thanks I didnt think of that. That is definetly something he would do lol

OP said this about a 2 year old:

I cant really keep him away from a dishwasher

Unless OP is an invalid, they absolutely can, they're just not wanting to put in the effort of doing so. Heck, one of those $15 child-proof barriers would do the trick.

No , no …you don't understand. 2 year olds are little ninjas : you take your eyes off them for 1 sec and poof! They've disappeared.🤦‍♂️

To quote my 2-year old: "only a nina(sic) can catch a nina(sic)!" and I'm no "nina" . I bet neither is OP.

        • Do you have kids?
If I put up a barrier he would climb over it. Being a dishwasher i cant really put a barrier up anyway as it is an open plan kitchen/dining. Wait until you have children and you will see :)

  • I've just bought the Bosch serie 6 for $935 (Made in Germany) from The Good Guys Bosch sale, and so far I have no complaints. I am actually very pleased with the results, much better than my LG machine it replaced. My kids are older, so I don't need the child lock, but I see from the manual that it does have one. I would recommend the Bosch from my experience so far.

  • Bosch for me and is very good
