Chemist Warehouse Price Beat 10% Difference

Hi all,

How many of you take advantage of CW's price beat policy? It seems every time there is at least one chemist where the product is cheaper than CW. They are good for the cheap free shipping total ($50) and convenience of having many stores around. They are quick and swift to put their policy into action and issue a refund + 10% of the difference to your account. Question is, how many take their prices for being low for granted and miss the opportunity to get back your $$$?

Not worth the effort. Tried to price match something from Coles. I was standing at the counter for about 20 minutes to save $5.

    • Have you tried doing it online? I can imagine instore being a pain because even the queues are 20 mins long.

  • It is a PITA to do a price beat at CW instore, I haven't tried online price beat because I don't fancy handing over my money first. They are the cheapest for most things compared to brick and mortar shops, but sometimes some online only pharmacy will be cheaper by quite a margin. Instore they usually reject these price beat requests because the pharmacy is online only and they will need to ring the online pharmacy customer service to confirm the online pharmacy has stock for some reason, even though I can add to cart and pay for it on the website. I have been rejected twice, so not bothering to do it anymore, I only go there if I already know they are the cheapest.

    • Online is easy as 5 mins by email and automatic refund.

      • What happens if they come up with a BS excuse and reject my request like instore? They would already have my money.

        • With screenshots, links to the products and a quick email, they have been issuing me refunds within 2 business days.

  • Never had an issue in-store, sometimes the clerk doesn't know what the price match policy is and calls the manager / senior over and they clear it up.

I always just get Price Hipster up when I walk into CW (or sometimes before) and search for the cheapest price, most times it's cheaper elsewhere I've found and they match it. Otherwise I search Amcal or GoodPricePharmacy as they're usually pretty cheap also.

  • Nice to know it works online too. I've done it in-store successfully on a few occasions. Usually have to wait for the pharmacist to come out from the back to confirm.

    • Just send an email to [email protected] with the cheaper alternative and your order number and they auto refund the amount, much easier than in store.

  • I tried it with Amcal and they said no, showed them website but this is not enough need to bring a flyer that has the address on the shop. Like all these price matches it depends on person.

  • Tried to price match Priceline at 9:30pm in store. Even though it says it’s in stock on Priceline’s website, the clerk said he had to call Priceline to confirm it’s in store. Obviously they were closed that late in night and therefore no price match.
I wrote a short email to head office to complain and was given a $5 voucher as apologies.
So yeah not worth the effort at all.

  • Chemist warehouse's customer service is so shit. everyone who works there needs to get managers approval before doing a price match. not worth wasting time.

I didn't know they had a price beat policy, very handy info. I'll never take no for an answer on a good price beat anywhere, just smile stand your ground and keep referring to the policy fine print, if you are correct you are correct, it's very black and white … Be happy to wait for the manager, soon when they see you coming they won't even bother to check your price beat too much cause you are always right… You need to train them into knowing you won't be beat and you know your sh**.

    • From comments the instore price match is too slow. I’m lazy and do online purchases.

      • Thanks for drawing attention to the online option, does sound like the most convenient way to go about it providing you don't mind being out of pocket until the refunded difference lands. I like your style

        • I get refunds within a week. Much better than cashback, but I’m still curious whether I can get cashback from this offer since they refund a difference, rather than refund the original order if that makes sense.

I do every time, it's less about the actual $ I'm saving and more about reminding incorrectly trained staff and nearby consumers that the policy actually exists.

  • Goes smoothly and quickly at my local's.
1st time I just said price Match they matched exactly..
2nd time I said "hey you guys beat by 10% right"
I double checked after and it's just 10% of the DIFFERENCE per policy.
