  • Good deal, both versions are worth having even though they kinda look identical.

    • Something to note is that the Mincraft Windows 10 edition has much lower system requirements than the java version, so better if you're running it on a low powered laptop

      • And windows 10 version is required for cross multiplayer with the iOS and Xbox version.

  • Standard price, it used to be $25. Has been $35 for well over a few years with W10 edition included as well (It already comes free for all Java users)

    • I just paid $40 on the Windows store for the Windows 10 version alone.

      • +4

Could've got it for ~$5 at Gamivo

        • +1

Thats where i got mine from, ended up getting a couple of copies so i could play it with my daughter.

          Minecraft Windows 10 Edition…$3.70 AUD…..2…$7.40 AUD
          Customer Protection Program…$1.12 AUD…..1…$1.12 AUD
          Payment fee……………………..$0.73 AUD…..1…$0.73 AUD

9.25 with the protection program, for 2 copies… (3.70 each lol)

      • Get a refund.

        • If you haven’t played it for longer than 2 hours and you bought it in the las 14 days I think

    • +5

Windows 10 Edition is no longer included when purchasing Java Edition.

    • It is more expensive now, but they stopped giving free windows 10 for people that bought java since like October or November

I wonder how many people has bought minecraft because of pewdiepie, they should pay him a commission

    • +1

Works both ways. How many people watched PewDiePie because he played MineCraft? He should pay them a commission.

  • I have Windows 7. I got an email recently that support for Windows 7 will end on the 14th January 2020. When I upgrade, do I need to buy the Windows 10 edition? Also, will I need to buy a copy for each login? (I have 3 boys who have their own login details… I think I had bought 3 copies of Minecraft)

    • hmm… sounds weird, so if you upgrade to windows 10, do you need to buy Office 20xx again? as long as it can run(compatible mode) it should be fine.

      • You buy Office and it works with whatever version of Windows you have. It's weird that they are selling a Windows 10 version. I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to make people buy it again when they upgrade to Windows 10.

The Windows 10 version is basically another game. It's based on the Bedrock base that is used across mobile and consoles, except Playstation. If you want mods, stick with Java, which works on Windows, Mac and Linux. Windows 10 version runs more efficiently and lighter.

          • @TheContact: Cheers, thanks for clearing that up.

            • +1

@heal: Minecraft for Windows 10 supports multiple accounts play in one License, I can play on different accounts if I buy it once.

    • +1

I believe it is the Windows 7 operating system itself that will not be support past 14th Jan 2020. If you're running Win7 on your machine, you'll most likely be using the Java version of Minecraft. The Java version will work on Win10 and a almost any other OS.

You just need to decide if you want to continue using Win7 OS even though it's unsupported, or upgrade to Win10 OS.

      • Thanks. I'll definitely be looking for a decent price on a copy of Win 10. Might be a good time to upgrade the PC and get an OEM Win 10.

        • +1

Might still be possible to upgrade to Windows 10 for free if you already have a licensed Windows 7, I only did this recently.

  • +1

wtf? It used to be like 20 bucks. The price has gone up by a lot, this isn't a bargain at all.

    • It used to be $25 but the price increase in 2016
This also includes windows 10 that cost $40 ($40 which includes the starter pack and the bonus for java is the base game only the base game)

  • has been 35 for a long long time…

  • +1

I still remember when you had to buy Minecraft in pounds

    • +1

that was when the aussie dollar hasnt gone to shits

    • Paid in euros during alpha €9.95 about $15 back in 2010.

  • Wait…
    Please do not confuse me…
THIS purchase from JB HiFi will give me both Java and Win10 editions.
The deal is “free” Win10 version.
    Correct?

    • You need to buy Java edition to recieve the Windows 10 edition, I changed the description so it is clearer

  • Is the Win10 version cross play with xbox one?

    • It’s is Cross Play with Xbox one, Mobile and Switch

  • Any cheap Xbox One versions?

Also read if I get a used Xbox One disk version this doesn't actually include the latest updates, anyone confirm?

  • I bought this when it was still in alpha after hearing about it on ABC Good Game

  • Since I'm using Windows 10, is it possible for me to redeem the Windows 10 version and then give the Java version to a friend?
Or do I need to redeem Java in order to get Windows 10 version?

    • +1

You need to redeem java to get windows 10

  • Bought it.
    Redeemed Java version.
But now I can't find how to redeem Windows 10 version. :(

    • +1

Anyone else managed to get Win 10 edition?
      It didn't work for me.

      • Are you on Mojang Website

        • On the mojang website log in (accounts.mojang.com)
Then there will be a sub heading called Windows 10

  • Omg the link's gone.. I can still find this in physical stores right??

    • +1

Yes, I bought one today, haven’t installed and activated it yet. I also noticed Big W had some. It stated on the back the Windows 10 edition was included with the activation of the Java Edition, but the Big W version had the activation code printed on the back of the card covered by a scratch off seal. Where the JB one was a print out code on the receipt upon purchase.

  • Sorry to resurrect this but when I looked at the deal 2 weeks ago it wasn't showing up on the site. It does now and I was wondering if I bought it would I still get both editions?

  • Purchased 4 September from JB, got the key for the java version in my email and redeemed the windows 10 version via Mojang website.

    Thanks!

  • looks expired. I was just going to buy and it is not there anymore.
