Cheapest Way Convert Cash USD To Online USD

Hi all,
Got some USD cash leftover previous trip. As such, trying to find a way to convert it into an online visa card or something similar so that I can make online purchases in USD - and not pay an arm and a leg for it.
Anyone got ideas/know cheapest way?

Thanks!

Dont get stuck on trying to convert "directly"

A more simple way is to convert to AUD at bank etc.

Then buy your USD online purchases using one of the better credit cards, like Bankwest or 28 degrees.

Online Visa cards are pretty expensive no matter which way you buy them.

Depending on your future travel plans and the amount of USD you have it might be better to hang on to the cash.

eg Bali/Vietnam Visas are often better bought using USD cash (not credit card)

  • I used the cheapest way once. Didn't see the money again until months later.

How much do you have? Hundreds, Thousands?
That will be a big factor in the available options.

  • Find someone who wants USD sell it to them at agreed rate

  • HSBC Everyday Global Account.

There is a nominal load fee but you can then transact with the Visa Debit card in USD.

    • That is at least an arm in my books :S

You can deposit foreign currency notes into the account at a HSBC branch. For physical note handling, you'll be charged a fee of 1.25% of the amount you're depositing (minimum charge of $20). You can deposit local coins to the value of $100 or more, and will be charged 2% of the transaction value.
