Snow in Blue Mountains - access via public transport

Hello,

There is forecast of snow at Blue Mountains this weekend.

Which is the best area that can be accessed via public transport (e.g. Katoomba) where the probability of snowfall is high? I would like to visit this weekend. I stay at Sydney.

Thanks

  • You can catch the fast train from Central that goes through Strathfield, Parramatta, Penrith, Emu Plains, and then all stations up the Blue Mountains.

Now you just need to do the research on where the snow is & stop at the nearest station.

I wonder if the train line/highway would even be open if there is snow/ice?

  • +2

Blackheath has a park near the Station (Blackheath Gardens) and some great food shops nearby.

Medlow Bath has the HydroMajestic and thats likely to have snow, but not many shops (also tourist prices) and its hard sometimes to cross the road from the Station

Of course this all depends on how much snow (train line is blocked), but you should know before you leave the city (train announcements)

Highway is more risky and limited public transport (private tour buses) which will mostly only go to Katoomba.

Train is airconditioned (heated) and a lot less stressful than the highway

  • I am interested as well OP. Saturday or Sunday would be better?

    • +4

      sunday. $2.50 travel

      • $2.80 now

        Thanks Gladys
