Shares - Dexus, Stockland, Mirvac, Charter Hall, Investa and JLL

Anyone here invest in shares?

I am thinking of investing in some of these shares, what do you think? Is it a volatile market? These shares are commercial real estate and I have see growth these past few years.

I'm thinking of small investments like a couple of K in some of these companies.

What do you think? Any other shares you see growth in?

What websites that are free and good with breaking down these shares and recommend shares?

So keen on investing :)

Thanks OzBargain peeps

Why would you invest in the same category? There's a reason for diversification.

Also, past performance is not an indication of future performance.

Best bet is to start with ETFs, or at least have a good portion of your investments in there.

  • They might be slightly different now as they carry less short term debt but look at what happened to the share prices of these property trusts during the GFC.

On the other hand comparing property trusts versus investments in residential property is interesting. They have:

    • less debt (typically 30%-50% compared to 80%+ for a normal inspeculator)
    • generally higher yield
    • more diversified across segments (industrial, office, residential) and geography (states)
    • more liquid (ie you can sell 10% of your investment and get the money in a few days whereas residential property must be sold in whole and you have to wait 6 weeks for funds)

Invest it all in CSL and enjoy life

    • What's good about CSL?

      • Has been growing sales YoY since it listed on the ASX. It's dividend payout is better than most companies even considering it's not fully franked

        • its yield is around 1%??
