What Does Telstra "Available Now" Mean for Devices, and "Order before 4pm for Shipment Today" for iPad plans?

I ordered an iPad Pro two weeks ago and at the time it said "available now" for that model. Other models said shipment delay, and others said "order before 4pm for shipment today". I'd just keep waiting, but the new iPad Pro comes out in the next two months. I keep asking Telstra support and they keep saying soon, soon. it says stock allocated a few days ago, but I'm guessing that means when they finally get it from their supplier they will allocate it to me. Is their supplier not Apple themselves? Apple send out iPads the same day you buy them, is Telstra sourcing their iPads from a cheaper reseller or something.

yes, they get them direct from China for 1/2 the price and then sell them at an inflated price

    • I thought so. It’s just taking so long that I’m wondering if the math works out on just buying one on eBay 15% off and just use credit. But I bet delivery would be just as long anyway 😩

Telstra’s “Available now” and next day delivery is a little misleading.

      • Pretty sure that had a loud and clear, if implied, sarcasm tag. Also:

at the time it said "available now" for that model. Other models said shipment delay, and others said "order before 4pm for shipment today".

Since they had ones saying "shipment today", obviously the ones that didn't say that meant they wouldn't be shipped today.

        • I dunno, a green “available now” implies that it is available now imo. The order before 4pm does confuse it, but what else can “now” mean? How can now be two weeks from now.

          • @AustriaBargain: Maybe it's as opposed to "For Pre-order" or "On Backorder"? But available could (and probably does) mean that it's there in their warehouse, but it would seem they've messed up in your case anyway because I also don't see a reason why it takes 2 weeks for a unit to be allocated if it was already available.

            • @HighAndDry: The iPads are crazy expensive, so I wouldn’t want to keep many in stock either. I don’t think telstra stores bother stocking them either. But that should be a red or grey backorder notice, not a green available now.
