That carbon at is just a rip off of an australian eboard:

    https://www.evolveskateboards.com.au/collections/gt-series/p…

    • Much different.

I have a carbon AT evolve. The wheels on the evolve are pneumatic and bigger .

The ESC on the ownboard is arguably better.

The evolve carbon GTR is likely a much nicer ride (and twice the price)

      • Correcting myself its not much more at all to get the official GTR.
if you were looking at an AT setup i'd go with the evolve for sure!

        • Evolve are sneaky with their "prices from" part. It has a much lower price listed ($1,629 for Bamboo GTR) but that is for the board WITHOUT a battery selected. Once you select standard battery, it ads $270 (For the Bamboo GTR anyway) and the price is $1,899. I'd imagine the Carbon GTR would be the same but I can't test as it is out of stock however, that would mean it is $1,999.

The Ownboard also uses solid tyres instead of pneumatic ones, so no punctures to worry about. I got the Carbon AT after having the W2 (fell off the W2 due to wheel wedging on rock, so wanted AT wheels) and it cost me AUD $1657, that's almost $350 cheaper.

Evolve GTR has more range, but not $350 worth of extra range to me.

          • @butterbuts: 350 more for local warranty, more range, comfier tyres, a better remote (yes evolve remote this time hasn't got issues)

I ordered a w2 and am yet to get it. Did it really spook you?
Will be rocking 90mm wheels or soft 85's like blue cags most of the time.

footpaths are what they are so will see how I manage

            • @ndftz: Didn't want to support evolve personally. Also didn't help that there are long waits to order the Evolve Carbon GTR

My commute is 12km and the at tyres are going to be much more comfy. Daniel Kwan reviewed the W2 well and that was a great board so I back him in with the Carbon AT as well (he reviewed the AT very well too).

My W2 handled the paths, but I wanted something comfier for my trip from Fortitude Valley to Moorooka

              • @butterbuts: thats 1km more distance than I do
                (Sunshine beach to Peregian Beach)

a few wooden bridges and some uneven paths on the way but not much in the way of rocks.. will see how it goes.

already have a m365 and a fixie for when i'm not keen on using the car but was hoping the ownboard plus the boosted bag will keep things more portable than the rest.

            • @ndftz: Also didn't help that there are long waits to order the Evolve Carbon GTR

  • +1

Apparently pretty good for cheaper boosted alternative. Check Daniel Kwan's reviews. Recently been riding an exway which is awesome too (on good roads) for around 850 on eBay with discounts.

    • This has less torque but more range than a boosted.

I purchased some Paris trucks to replace the front truck, some blue caguamas and some nipple bushings. Apparently all that will make this ride better than a boosted.

Really I'm in it for the weight advantage.
Even lighter than my m365 and goes further without the same sag

      • Concrete lines has an afteryay 20% off promo right now if you want to buy other gear. Couldn't find the wheels or trucks cheaper elsewhere
