Cloud Backup Storage

Not sure if this is the right forum area but what is everyone's setup in terms of cloud backup storage and who are you currently signed up with?

I'm looking into whether it would be worth signing up to an online service to backup my personal photos, videos and other information as an individual rather than saving everything I have amongst a few offline places such as computers and portable external hard drives.

Any recommendations and reviews would be greatly appreciated.

  • iCloud 200gb for <$4 a month (after deducting 15% for discounted gift cards) works like a charm

  • google one, 1tb, $12 a month

  • I still use my free 1TB Mail.ru and 2TB Baidu accounts.

Everything is encrypted before I upload so no problem.

I also got Baidu but now nervous with so called “Chinese” hackers and data leaks…. but everyone is the same :)
If you wanna backup Photos and Videos, can use Google Photos. Have been using for a few years now and works like a charm. No fee involved and unlimited space. And haven’t had any privacy issues (that I know of)

Be aware the google photos unlimited space option will compress photos if they are larger than 16MP and Videos higher than 1080p. Raw photos will be converted to JPG.

If you choose the option to store larger sized or RAW files then it will count against your Google Account Storage limit.

    Backblaze.

+1 for Backblaze. Initial upload is a poo if your speed is not that good, but once done its a great set and forget.

  • Google One 1tb - pay per year and it's extremely reasonable.

  • All depends on how much space you require.

OneDrive and Dropbox both have free solutions. Google Photos is also great but will compress hi-res photos.
