How to Come out of OPTUS NBN?

I am using Optus ADSL from Aug 2017.
I moved and took it with me to St Albans in 2018.
Then again I moved in 2019 and got NBN in Werribee.

As per me, I have done 24 months with Optus and could come out now. But the support agent said that my clock was restarted in May 2019 and I can come out in 2021 only.

My options are
Getting it transferred to anyone who wants it.
Paying early disconnection of AUD 487
Moving to a landline of 22 AUD PM.

The last option is useless of course.

Is there any other option you people suggest?

Update: My contract with NBN will not be over in 2021. It will be over in Nov 2019. This is confirmed by Optus after multiple chat sessions.

And as always, no proof/PDF of the contract.

As per me, the contract should get over in Jul 2019

Complain to the TIO that it's unfair, etc, make your case, it'll go higher up and usually they let you go

    • It would be unfair but if I agreed to the terms somewhere then only I can complain Right?

  • Look for an area where this is no NBN and tell them you are moving there.

    • I thought of that too. But they can offer me ADSL and still keep me connected!

I am trying to see a document that says my policy has started afresh. I have been on the same account # for these two years.

      • There are places in Oz there there is no PSTN, (would they offer satellite, oh surely not… ) or perhaps, overseas?

  • Relocation is usually free for the same type of technology.

However, it seems like you signed up for NBN which is another product. So technically they let you out of the old contract because ADSL was not available at the new location and signed you up again on the NBN.

Now whether you were told this or not over the phone is what will ultimately let you off. The TIO has powers to listen into the recorded conversations and make a determination.

    • They don't most conversations they just make notes on a customers file, doesn't TIO just pass the complaint on and then mediate in the middle most of the time

    • generally, they extend your contract by 2 years whenever you relocate (adding it on to the end of the term) to cover the cost of installation …

you can push them to have it terminated early (actually, there's usually a 3 month period at the end of contract where there's no fee to cancel)

out of curiosity, do you want to port out due to conjestion with optus? that's a different conversation …
