Kmart Click & Collect taking longer than expected

How long have Kmart offered a click and collect service?

First of all, are they out of their mind? It should be called 'Klick & Kollect'. Wasted opportunity.

Moving on from lame jokes though, I placed an order just before 5:30 last night and I'm still waiting for it to be ready at 12 noon today. The Kmart in question closes at 10, so this means they've had 8 and a half hours where the store has been open to locate my three items and mark it as ready for pickup.

I don't know about you guys, but when I worked at Dick Smith and Woolies introduced C&C which was very early on, we'd have overnight orders come through before the store opened and our manager would expect them to be ready by the time we opened.

What is taking so long?!!?

Kmart Klick & Kollect - yeah, wasted opportunity. i klan not see why they wouldn't have done that.

      I did Nazi that coming

The item you bought has probably been stolen and they don't know what to do.

I went into a Kmart store once to pick up an item that showed as "in stock" on the website.

Couldn't find it. Asked a staff member who confirmed there were 8 available as per their system. She searched unsuccessfully and apologised, explaining that they were all probably stolen, as shoplifting is rife in K-Mart.

It says if they can't find the item they will send it from another store for free.

      • +6

Which is going to take longer than one business day.

I ordered 2 of those pie makers recently (they are really good by the way) & while it said they were in stock when I wanted to click & collect they weren't available that way where I could pick them up once I got to payemnt online. I ended up having to have delivery to get them. It took longer than expected because I ordered 2 and they were coming from different stores in Australia (or so they said). Just from my experience having purchased online many times from Kmart, & in their store, their stock inventory system doesn't appear too efficient or too up-to-date & I have often had to use mail delivery instead of collecting it. I have never had an offer for it to be sent over from another store for click and collect without paying a $10 fee online first. You're lucky it was offered to you Never been told that items had been stolen! crazy!

Myer and Baby Buntings also take a couple of days in my experiences, quickest one is usually JB Hifi (an hour or two).

I ordered Detective Pikachu from them this morning and two minutes later (no joke), they advised it was ready for pickup

      • Service! Kmart is so far 2700% slower than your experience.

        • +1

Took five minutes to sort out out in store; they couldn't find it so had to pick one off the shelf …

What do their click and collect terms say about time frame?

If you have ordered to one store and it wasn’t in stock it would probably take 2 days to transfer it.

    • Says 24 hours, but says if not in stock they'll send to my house for free not store transfer.

At this rate, I mean, they've got 4 and a half hours to get it done within 24 hours. We'll see.

What are Kmart's conditions for K&K; does it state a duration?

  • +4

This is a KKK (klick and kollect katastrophe)

so this means they've had 8 and a half hours where the store has been open to locate my three items and mark it as ready for pickup.

Then why didn't you just walk in and collect those 3 items yourself and walk out?

    • +2

You're asking why click and collect exists

      • No I'm asking if you can't wait for it to be ready, why you used it. Its only 3 items, you could have collected them and left the store by the time you wrote this post.

          Where did I say I can't wait?

They must be working out the kinks in their procedure as I had the opposite problem.

Ordered and paid click and collect early in the week planning on collecting on the weekend. Received email within an hour or so saying order was ready for collection. Received an email and refund on Friday as I hadn't picked up quick enough. Shrug.

    • +1

Wow they don't hold it for a week?

      • +1

        Nope. I was quite surprised.

But hey, at least they're not as bad as Masters click and collect back in the day. I thought that feature would be awesome and avoids having to hunt through a Bunnings to find a small item etc.

Tried it 3 times at the Preston VIC store, first 2 times an item that was in stock on the website and received an email/sms confirming item ready for collection, and both times go in and find they don't even have stock of the damn item.

Third time was hilarious. Item was "ready for collection" but was up the top of a racking shelving nearly touching the roof. They literally couldn't find anyone who could operate the forklift..as in no one was currently rostered on lol.

Didn't go back, not long after that they went bust :)

  • Still waiting. Tick tock!

And if they are reading this thread I'm sure they will get right on it.

Don’t keep us in suspense, how did the saga end?

      • It's ongoing

        • +2

Maybe the order is stuck in the system. Happened quite a bit at DJs prior to new website (as the person who had to hound It to fix it by asking my colleagues across the nation to provide evidence to IT to prove there was actually an issue)

Have you tried contacting their customer service to see what’s the go?

  • +1

I was surprised my local store doesn't pick orders as they come in. I ordered at around 9:00 and phoned in the afternoon (assuming it would be picked during they day) but they only prepare orders in the morning before they open. This doesn't explain your situation but yeah maybe they wait 24 hours so their website description is accurate?

Just called through to their online sales team and they are contacting the store. Apparently the store can't locate one of the items. Would be nice if they can keep the customer updated!

Day 3, order still says processing.

    • Are you still waiting?

      • +1

So, on day 3 (friday) I called the store and they knew nothing. I called online team and they were like WTF. One item was not at the store so it was to be shipped to my house free delivery. They called the store and spoke to the store manager and he was like herp derp idk how this works.

The order gets changed to ready to collect about an hour later so I head in with my 2 young kids at midday.

I go to the service counter and they're like "here it is!" and they present me with the 1 item that was meant to get shipped to my house and is wrapped in a parcel. I tell them there should be 2 other items, and about 15 minutes and 3 staff members (including the store manager) later, they went and grabbed the other 2 items off the shelf for me.

My kids weren't too impressed with being stationary for that long, but whatever. It's over.
