Mini/Bar Fridge Recommendations?

Hi All

Looking for recommendations on a mini/bar fridge with freezer compartment included. Most i see these days are only about 1-2 star energy rating, do they come in any higher?

Also would you recommend the freezer compartment separate, with its own separate door, or one that is included inside the fridge compartment?

I see a lot of the Devanti brand around, anyone have any experience with this brand?

Thanks!

Bar Fridges are always pretty bad with energy consumption, but best bet would be have a look on Gumtree etc. I picked up a Westinghouse Bar Fridge for my home brewing for like 50 bucks, it was basically brand new.

    • Thanks definitely will!

Part of the bad energy rating is unavoidable due to the physics. The small fridge has much more surface area to volume and less thermal mass. They also exchange a high amount of their cold air whenever the door is opened. If you kept it fully stocked it would help the efficiency a lot.

Big market for second hand bar fridges in Melb as well. Lots change hands because of students, share houses etc. Check ebay and gumtree before considering a new one.

  • Depending on required use have you considered a chest stye 12/240 volt camping fridge freezer a lot of theses are excellent on power usage initial purchase cost is high but you do have the added advantage of being able to take it away with you. Also consider a small chest freezer and getting the thermostat changed to a fridge one it will be heaps more efficient than the equivalent upright fridge.
