  • I am in a similar situation. having a house of size like yours. The carpet has been there for 30 years and needs replacement .Also looking for one. Wonder whether Airtasker could help. Wondering whether $6,000.00 would cover the cost of the carpet ( a decent one ) plus the installation cost . $6,000.00 is my budget.Hope can get some advice from this forum. Thanks.

    • I have been to carpet court and they are ridiculously expensive.. I am looking for a supplier to purchase carpet from a warehouse and then have it installed through airtasker

      • I recommend keep an eye on local FB marketplace or community groups. Heaps of small businesses who cannot afford a showroom keep advertising. For example we found our curtains/blinds person through community group on FB. He brought all samples in his car for us to see or choose.

I got my carpets from https://westerndistributors.com.au/ and they arranged installation as well.

    • this is who i recently purchased mine from. They have a section of "faulty" carpet in limited runs. Ended up getting carpet for 1/3 of the price because the colour was wrong (instead of a light grey, it was a little bit darker than what it should have been - but because i was doing whole house, it was fine)

I've purchased through this place and the carpet ended up being terrible. It started losing pile from day one and was terrible despite the salesman's advice. On the plus side it was cheaper than the other places and its hit and miss on the available range for seconds carpets. The guys who did the install were great. This time round I went to Fowles which had a wider range of colours and quality (https://www.fowles.com.au/carpet/) They're on Princes Hwy, Clayton. Excellent prices and of course much cheaper than HN's sale prices. Fowles organised a decent installer too.

  • Any update on what you went with? I'm looking for good value carpet at the moment

  • Carpet Melbourne Direct currently have free underlay if you are interested.
