Good Quality Petrol Mower

Hi all
I’m looking to buy a decent Petrol mower in Brisbane for $500-800. Doesn’t seem to be many bargains around…! Anyone seen something worth sharing?
Thanks!

Anything 4 stroke with a briggs n Stratton. Had one 20 years, every second year replace oil, clean out air filter or replace where required. Replaced blades recently.

  • how large of an area do you need to mow?

Why petrol? Battery electric is good, but depends on your needs and usage patterns.

I have a 36v mower and around 300m2 of lawn. I’m never going back to a petrol mower. So much quieter and convenient. Virtually no servicing and no smelly petrol or oil in the shed. Haven’t used petrol yard equipment for years, including hedger, line trimmer and blower.

Here in SA we are just a day away from being off the grid.

Not in an eco-greenie self-sufficient kinda way either.

      I wouldn't call it infrastructure.

I know they are a pain sometimes. But i love nothing better than getting the 2 stroke mower out, ripping the plug out, hitting with some sandpaper and start Ya Bastard and it cracking first go. It's a sense of achievement and nothing beats the smell and vibration.

Had a Honda mower that's been going strong for 30 years. Hasn't needed anything doing to it, still runs as perfectly now as the day we got it!

  • I've owned two massports from bunnings. It hasn't missed a beat so far.

  • Three-four years ago, my comments on OzBargain was to stay away from battery and corded, and I still maintain that was sound advice then but the tech has come a long way and I'm fully converted.

I've taken down 3ft diameter trees with a 18V chainsaw whilst having a conversation with my spotter. Quiet and did the job just as quickly.

I have an older Stihl in the same 16inch class that is now completely retired.

Get the 56V Ego. You won't look back.
