Poll: Bought a $25 Audio Cable for Headphones

Hi so I just spent $25 on a nice audio cable from Amazon AU.
It had to be this specific one as my headphones design makes them only accept one which is thin connection on the headphone side.
It has braided fabric on the outside if the cable, and is gold plated on both ends. That’s it.
Internally it is just a normal cable.
Regarding sound quality there is likely zero benefit. It is just nice for the sake of being nice.

My purchases tend to be functional, this was an odd occasion where I got something for the sake of being nice.

So to you is it a waste of money, or is it an acceptable purchase.

    It's your money.

    If it makes you happy, then it isn't a waste.

      Yes thank you that’s what I thought when making the purchase.
      I will be using it strictly indoors, as due to minimising risk I take an aversion to using headphones outdoors (risk minimisation and the fact I occasionally have a drink is interesting).
      So the only person that it needs to leave an impression on is myself.

    Braided cables make a big difference in longevity in my experience. If I didn't have at least an element of 'nice' in my purchases I'd probably jump out a window.

      Thanks for sharing, this is my first braided cable so looking forward to it lasting.
      Also the ‘source’ end has one of those screw on 1/4 inch adapters, so even with the adapter off it is thicker and more substantial. Kind of expecting it to feel better when plugging it in, and provide some cognitive bias to the sound.

    I ticked waste of money, but these are exactly the kind of things I keep on a list for gift suggestions when family say "what do you want for Xmas/birthday".
    There are plenty of 'nice' things I feel a bit conflicted about wasting money on, but really appreciate if somebody gives me an indulgent gift.
    I do tend to cheat and if there are a few things on my list I didn't get given I will spend birthday money (or, you know, birthday adjacent pay packets) to correct this accident!

      Yes and I am sure what is ‘nice’ is different for everyone. This product may be nice for one person, but actually functional and durable for another (better value).

    Pretty much any aftermarket cable is a waste of money, you can use that money to buy different headphones with a totally different sound signature that will be much better overall than any improvement a cable will provide which is 0.

    Once you see aliexpress etc you will think everything is a waste of money accessory wise lol
