Good Solid Bed Base?

So I'm probably going to end up buying a Queen size Koala mattress - not because of the marketing, but because every review on mattresses is bought and paid for anyway, so I may as well get it and try it.

Additionally though I'm looking for a good bed base - something solid, preferably timber, that will last and survive moving house more than a couple of times. Preferably the last bed base I'll ever have to buy.

So this immediately disqualifies Ikea and Fantastic Furniture.

I'm looking to pay around the $800-$900 mark, but price doesn't always mean quality these days, so I'm interested in even a lesser known brand if the product is quality.

Why is this so hard? I've been putting it off for a while, but my current mattress is destroying my back.

Any pointers? Thank you :)

Have you looked at the Koala bases? We haven't gotten one yet (waiting for a sale of some sort) but they look pretty solid and I like the lip behind the head board where you can put your phone.

    • I have a king koala base with the zzatlier mattress and both me and my better half a quite happy

  • Just lay down a dozen or so 50kg hardwood sleeper logs, doesn't get any more solid than that, it's our plan anyway.

  • I am impressed with my James Lane bed base.

I didn't want a bed head, so it was only like $350 ish.
