  • ohhhhh!

  • A sensible price for some extruded aluminum and fittings. I have still not recovered from the scar of paying Thule and their retail channel years ago; there is a definite space for cheaper roof racks while still making a healthy margin.

      Already exists… on eBay

      • Yes I've seen those. It would be nice though to see them IRL or get real reviews before purchasing. (not that I need them now)

Thule can be had pretty cheap on Gumtree, eBay or Facebook Marketplace. I bought 2 sets (one for each car) for around $200. Not sure how these Aldi ones are but the Thule set is dead easy to install, are interchangeable with different bars or foot packs so you can move it to a new car, and have T tracks that work with lots of accessories.

      • I did look at eBay 2nd hand for a while - but bought new after no good listings at the time for a decent price.

    Nice rack.

  • I got a pair of these from Aldi a while ago. Fits my 4wd's raised rails really well. These I would recommend at the price.

    • What type of 4wd you have? I'm considering to put these on my Kia Sorento

      • +1

I've got these and they fit our 2016 Carnival nicely. My 2011 Kia Sorento doesn't have rails so this won't fit.

If your Sorento has rails, then it's a pretty sure bet this roof rack will fit.

        • Thanks, my Sorento has roof rails so I’ll give it a go!

          • +1

@mikec: Make sure the rails don't sit flush against the bodywork. These only work on the type of rails that are raised

it makes your car look tougher and the owner outdoor type…for $80…money well spent…lolz

How am I going to put my 3 metre kayak on the roof of my car without racks even with a bigger car? I'm not in the market to get a more expensive foldable one

It is also much more cheaper to use an existing car than buy a new car. And bigger cars usually use more petrol than smaller cars even when you have roof racks on a smaller car and not loaded

    • Where else are you gunna put the missus and kids when they misbehave? Don't forget these though: https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-31-…

  • Does anyone know if these will fit a T32 2017 Nissan X-Trail?

    • -3
    • Hi mate. I bought these last year and put them on a 2015 x-trail. I'm not sure what the 2017 model is like, but if you have the roof rails on there they should be fine. The racks have an adjustable vice grip on each end that will bite onto the rail.

These have been a great purchase, great bang for buck. I'd recommend the tray too.

      • Thanks mate, much appreciated.

  • Anyone have the roof tray? In the market for one and this looks decent

    • +1

They sell it every year. I see them on a lot of cars. The front black windshield part I’ve seen faded/rusted/bubbled on those cars.
Must be made of steel or something like that.

      • Galvanic corrosion would preference the aluminium if they have different metals in contact.

  • Can't seem to find the catalog online containing this, I'm curios what the "9" driving lights" are on the top right corner of your picture?

where you can wait and not rush to to buy,. just keep an eye on the product in store/s.
My $99 roof tray I picked up when they were clearing at about $40, maybe $50. the roof bag was $50 I bought for $20.
Also have the awning, picked it up at $20, I think they were $100 or so originally.
Now most of the time it sits in my garage doing nothing, but when I need it its there.

I have integrated cross bars that work well and I have the Yakima SUPDawg carrier for my Stand Up Paddle board - SUP.
The only issue is they do not have the tracking systems that a lot of roof rack bars have.
I think all these items have there place as long as you have a use.

And yes fuel consumption went up by about (1) one l/100klm when I had the roof cage on along with an awning.

    • Dang now you have me wondering if I should wait for the roof tray. I don't need it until December but run the risk of them not reaching clearance. I wonder if anyone else saw them floating around clearance areas…

      • It can be an issue, but they had a few at the time and they have been out a few times now. I did keep an eye on stock levels and if i was passing an aldi i would stop in to see what they had.

  • Both VERY cheap if they suit your needs. Brand bars have similar load ratings for 2-3 times the price. Don't believe the basket is "heavy duty steel" if it weighs just 12kg but that's unlikely to be an issue for most.

  • Needs RAISED roof rails though.
IIRC - the picture on box shows FLUSH rails - which is incorrect.

  • No awning this yr.. damn

  • Are these any better than all the ones on e-bay that go for $50 to $70 and don't suck you in to the ALDI special/limited stock dates crap?

  • Grabbed one of each tonight from Epping VIC store on Harvest Home Rd, not in Pacific Epping. Couple left of each.

    If anyone's looking…

    • Does it have any left even now at Epping if you recently went again ? I have been looking around in 2 weeks now.
Does it fit PEUGEOT 2008 SUV 2017.
