Spalding 44” Adjustable Basketball System $299 (Was $449) @ rebel

240

Hi all, been looking for a basketball ring for the kids and this popped up. $299 less 5% cash rewards and 6% off rebel gift cards (Suncorp rewards) takes it down to $266 (total of 40% off)

Click and collect was ready in 2 hours and I picked it up to save delivery.

Per the reviews, assembly is pretty fiddly with poor instructions (and I’m pretty good at assembling stuff!) Another pair of hands definitely comes in handy (I got the kids to help with some bits).

Great piece of kit to get the kids outdoors! It’s got a sprung/dunk feature (probably useless for kids) and the height adjustment seems to operate pretty smoothly.

Box size was approx 120 x 85 x 25 cm and 40ish kilos.

  • Can this ring be adjusted to a height of 10ft? Can't find it in the description.

    • The box says 8-10 ft in 6” increments.

    • +2

      Yes, we have one.

  • hows the quality? does it seem flimsy after being assembled? How does it feel when the ball hits the rim? solid?

    • It's OK, but not the best… Thus the price.

    • Same as op said, assembly was a bit fiddly, instruction not well written. I have to undo/redo a step or two, but once done, it seems solid. Could be assembled by one person (I did), 2 would be better. Height adjustment is great making it suitable with all ages. Had it for the last 3 years outside and is still good.

  • The base/pole and height mechanism are very sturdy and easy to adjust the height. It Was late when I finished so only shot a few hoops and it seems fine.

Have a read of the reviews on the listing. They are all pretty good.

  • got something similar a few months back from rebel

box fitted in a honda CRV
    Allow time to build it
construction is solid. Have had a 10 year old hanging off the ring at 8ft setting no worries.

would a %600 ring be better - i dont know

    • would a %600 ring be better

      That's a big ring…

  • Do cash rewards work when using gift cards?

    • Mine tracked a few hours after pickup.

  • great find OP, thanks :)

  • I have one of these and the polycarbonate backboard is annoyingly noisy. I had neighbours complain so much that we had to pull it down at our previous residence. I found it pretty easy to put together and reasonable quality in all other areas, but I would never buy it again due to the noise when the ball hits the backboard.

    • It makes sounds just like any backboard. I actually like the aural feed back. Difficult neighbours will complain regardless of any type of back board, they will complain even if you use a netball ring, as bouncing the ball on the ground will also annoy them ;-)
So the question you have to ask before buying is not "is this good value?" because it is. You should ask yourself "Are my neigbours easy going?"

  • What's the deal with these costing from 100-1600?
    What's the difference?

  • Cheers. Picked one up. Oztom was right. The instructions are VERY ordinary.

Also used this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/479921 as entertainment book 10% off gift cards had sold out.
