WET/Dry VAC, What to get?

HI, Looking for a WET/DRY Vac that can take some abuse.

Mainly builders waste ie: Plaster, gyprock off cuts, nails, screws. Also outdoor stuff like leaves dirt etc?

I have a back pack at the moment, only problem is it has a 35mm hose and it clogs often. Anything with a bigger diameter hose?

Thanks.

  • Very happy with my Karcher workshop vac, but it’s on castors not back pack. It’s a chunky build and can take quite a bit of abuse. Given that you’ll be doing nails and screws though you might want something encased in plastic to absorb the noise - the Karcher has a stainless bucket and you’ll definitely hear them rattling. The filters for the Karcher are somewhat cleanable, but not without effort, and they do get clogged easily due to their folded construction.

I think I also used a Makita professional one once as well, that was huge but a fantastic vac.

OP how much do you want to spend?

I had a Karcher and it was crap (granted it was <$200).

I now have a Gerni wet & dry and it's fantastic. It's got a nice wide house, fabric bags and hepa filter. The combination of this helps keep dust down and stops the fine dust killing the motor like in my Karcher. It also has a reverse airflow function so the filter stays cleaner for longer. The take off function on it also tends to be higher power at 1100w.

Ryobi also make a good wet & dry vac but the take off function is 900w and there's no blower function on the filter to keep it clean.

What ever you buy, make sure it can take fabric bags as this helps keep the filter in better shape.

If you have more money to burn you could look at fully sealed systems?

Where / how much do you buy fabric bags?
