OzBargain on Safari on iPhone

Fellow Ozbargainers and Admins,

I’m looking for some help. I’ve been using iPhone XS and safari for a while. Ozbargain website worked well on my phone but having loading issues for few months now. I can open the website. If I go to the deals page, it only loads the first page. At the bottom there is a box ‘load more results’. But nothing happens. The menu at the top doesn’t work either.

I’m using other browsers without any issue.

Has anyone experience the same?

  • Woohoo… I managed to get it working! I had a content blocker enabled under settings (thanks for the tip foobat) Now that’s off, mobile site is working fine. Interestingly, when I forced to get desktop site, everything was working even with the content blocking. Thanks for all your inputs.

      You may be able to whitelist the OzBargain domain so that you can still use your content blocker elsewhere

    You need to ask Siri "any bargains??"… then the rest of the page will unlock.

  • If you are wanting to use OzBargain on your phone, I would recommend using this app - I have used it for quite a while and have had minimal issues. You also can get notifications for specific categories. However, I would avoid logging in to it, just to be safe. If you need to post on-the-go just open the deal on the App and click the safari icon no the top right of the screen. That will open Safari.

    Go to My Account -> Settings -> scroll down to OzBargain Settings -> uncheck Infinite Scrolling

    Also think about clearing your browser cache.

  • Can other Safari Mobile users confirm? Unfortunately none of OzBargain staff have iPhone for development & testing.

      I can confirm the website works perfectly fine on Safari iPhone. Menu at the top works fine and auto-load more deals works fine.

      I would suggest Rimus to disable any iOS content blockers that may be interfering with the site loading properly. Alternately they can enable manual pagination which also works perfectly fine.

      • Thanks. In that case I guess we still need OP to confirm whether a content filter is messing things up so we can work around it.

    • Works fine on my iPhone 6S Plus, running latest iOS

    • Same. Never had any issues on my iPhone X (same size as XS) in either Chrome or Safari (both use same rendering engine on iPhone) running latest iOS 12.

    • iPhone 7, running iOS 10.3.3, using Safari everyday to access OzBargain, never had any issues.

    • Curious, what do you guys all use? Did you get them from the bargains?

      • I'm on OnePlus 6+ — probably the most expensive phone I've bought since the original Nexus One. Everyone else is on various flavours of Android.

    • Works fine on my iPhone XR.

    • I use Safari and on't have any issues

    • Can confirm it's working fine for me too.

  • I believe you may be using an adblocker from one of the many deals posted here which is causing your issue.

  • Thanks everyone for your feedback. Could you please assist with me re-setting the safari? So that will remove any add blocks or anything else?
