Replacement for Gaggia Classic after 8 Years

Here's a flashback - I bought this Gaggia Classic 8 years ago and it's been a reliable unit but has given up the ghost. $440 to be repaired, and $800 (!) to buy new.

I'm travelling to Italy in the next fortnight and was wondering whether it was worth having a new machine delivered to my mate's place in Italy which I'll pick up from there. The beauty of the Gaggia Classic was that all I needed was a standard power cable.

I'm not fussed about the brand, nor a warranty obviously. I's prefer that the unit not have a grinder, as I've already got one of those. 600AUD is the intended budget.

How does one go about finding "OzBargain" type deals in another country like Italy, or Europe for that matter?

Just wondering….

Comments

    • Yes, saw that Gaggia for sale but have been put off by the many comments about Gaggia Classic being "cheap and nasty" since I bought mine.

Italian brands like Dallacorte & Magister get mentioned here, but wondering how one would source these types of brands?

      • Try vpn to italy and then Google search.
