Recommendation for Tinted Window Cleaning Products

Hi OzBargainers, I was told when I got my car window tinting done that windex or other alcohol based cleaners would void the warranty. Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations or if I just need to stick to water and a elbow grease.

I use Mr. Sheen for mine, you can also use a solution of mild soap and water. Most window cleaners are OK as long as they don't contain Ammonia.

I've used Meguiars for years but a couple of years ago switched to either Stoner Invisible Glass or Bowdens Own Naked Glass. No problem with any of them but I'll be staying with Bowdens Own as they're an Aussie company and switched almost exclusively to them for all car care products.

I think you'll find ammonia is the issue, not alcohol.

I used invisible glass occasionally but mostly just a damp microfibre cloth does the job. Tint looks as good as when it was put on 12 years back.

"Auto" glass cleaners are fairly poor value at $20-$30 / litre. Bunnings has one called Glitz that says it's suitable for tint windows and ammonia free. $9.50 for 2 litres

    Diluted white vinegar

    Cleans just about anything!

Put it in a $2 spray bottle and away you go. Use newspaper to wipe on and off. Streak free.

And smell like a fish n chip shop! Win win!

  • Thanks for the recommendations guys, I'll see which ones are included in the Repco sale.
