New Huawei ideos X1 $99 from Optus

Was shopping around and planning to buy the Huawei Ideos U8150 prepaid phone, but then I saw a rather new looking Huawei phone for only $99 from Optus prepaid - the Huawei Ideos X1.
I think the phone was just released not long ago, so there arent many reviews.
From looking at the specs, the phone seems pretty similar to the Ideos U8150, major difference is that this is locked to Optus and looks better imo.

Not sure if its exactly a bargain, but I thought Id just share this since I think it seems like a good alternative to the U8150 for people who arent on Vodafone/virgin and dont wana risk getting a locked phone from CJ/DS, for the same price too.

If you have used this phone before, how do you rate it?

  • 528MHz processor is below par..
Pretty sure most of the other low end phones have at least a 600MHz processor (including the 8150).

  • was deciding between this, the older U8150, and telstra's Smart Touch for a <$100 phone. Got this one from Dick Smith Parramatta 2day. signed up with optus on $2 a day plan. Quality much better than expected. Android is seems interesting. will play with it for a while and then see if I can upgrade (and do all the other stuff mentioned in whirlpool forums.)

… new gadgets are fun :)

  • it's all right for that price!, you'll get what you pay for, you can't expect to get the latest and greatest for that price! that would be absurd. if you do business, you know what i mean! fair dinkum

  • $89.10 through the Optus online store now.
