    Court appearance sorted.

How come you're closing down? Is it due to expensive rent at the DFO or the reduced consumer spending habits? It is sad to see brick and mortar retailers shutting shop every second day.

    • how good is the recession?

    • +6

Probably because 90% of the population cant be arsed driving to the airport.

Basically this. You get essentially zero business during peak hours because Tonkin can be ridiculous during those hours.

Heading to your local shopping centre/Galleria is more likely.

The DFO out there makes zero sense. Probably cheaper rent then most places though.

That and paying dearly for parking. And when it opened, for many stores the prices were the same as their other shopping centre stores so on the whole, there isn't much point of the DFO centre.

      • Should do a lot better once the new train station is running. However retail is low atm in WA. Vicinity just wrote off $191m https://www.businessnews.com.au/article/Vicinity-hit-with-19… however DFO actually increased it valuation from $33.4m to $110.5m

It's a sterile shopping centre with little atmosphere out in the middle of nowhere, with few decent restaurants or cafes to sit down for a drink. It's full of in-your-face-signage major brand stores which, on the whole, sell for completely ordinary prices that you could get cheaper just about anywhere else. You would think they realise by now that the "outlet" advertising has zero credibility left.

      • "outlet" advertising has zero credibility left.

That went out the window when some thought they could slap outlet in a shop and not reflect expected prices on things they sell and call it a day.

The same thing with closing down sales….

Closing down…for today… Will be open again tomorrow with equally rip off prices.

      • I still haven't checked it out but it seems I'm not missing out on much!

10am-6pm opening hours is a bit of a bugger that there's no late night trading

      • The Melbourne DFO on the southbank there is the only one I have seen in Oz with cheaper prices. The DFO concept in the US blows anything we do away!

Hi all. To answer the Qs… The trade out of DFO Perth was well below expectations and it's not worth continuing there. This is a genuine clearance with the aim of selling as much as possible (most of our stores are eastern states and we don't want to ship it back as margins we get can't bear adding further costs). This was a new store too so all product in there is relatively current. Final trading day is 17/9/19.

    • Sad to hear, love you guys at DFO Essendon in Melbourne.

    • So to get the real discount we have to visit the store? Cannot buy online at same price plus delivery?

      • Hey specwarop - store only I'm afraid. The Perth store is not set up to manage fulfilling online orders.

    • COSTCO is opening across the road in May 2020. Maybe that may help the DFO Perth sales?
