DownThemAll for Firefox Is Back

The much loved, and sorely missed Firefox extension DownThemAll has returned.

If it hasn't automatically installed on your browser (as it did on mine), you can get it here:

    Splendid!

  • So is this an alternative to Jdownloader? I was using flashgot but it went the way of the dodo too. :(

    • I'd also like to know. I have just learned about Jdownloader 2.

  • Nice one! Thanks for sharing.

Man I miss it. Any chance Tab Mix Plus is coming back too?

    • Or colorful tabs?

      • Is that all it does? Tab Mix Plus is in a whole different league then.

It doesn't do much of anything ATM. :) Used to be nice to just have the tabs coloured differently but apparantly it's too hard for FF to handle after the upgrade to version 50.

  • First, this extension comes back, and then Diji1 comes back from the penalty box. What a day!

  • Is this used to download youtube videos?

    • This is a fully functional download manager. Multi-threaded and all.

      • sorry, im noob ..

are you saying it can download anything from any website?

        • Only if you have a download link.

There are other plug-ins to sniff out YouTube video download links if that's what you want to do.

A good one is called Video Download Helper.

          • @Bad Company: Thanks for the suggestion

What do you mean by have a download link?

            • @ATTS: When somebody sends you a picture, a PDF document, or a zip package, whatever, and you click on "download", how does the browser know where to get that resource from?

Everything on the web page has an address, called Universal Resource Locator (URL, a.k.a., "link"). When you tell your browser to download that resource by clicking on a download button, the browser knows where the resource is located through the link and requests the website for that resource.

This link though, is hidden on online video sites, so you need a plug-in to "sniff" that out for you. That's what I meant by "have a download link".

    • I use Ant Video Downloader for youTube
