Samsung UI annoyances

Got an A20 cheap and it has some great features for the price
battery life is awesome

Usability issues which annoy me versus my Pixel 1

  • DND - on pixel you hit DND and it defaults to a period - 1 hr, 2 hr, etc.
  • Voice message - on pixel 101 voice messages come up as playable in Messages - no need to dial in to Messagebank

Are these issues able to be avoided corrected on the Samsung UI
(I believe it is Android 9 but Android One?
Cheers

One Ui is Samsung's name for their overlay / interface. It was formely Touchwiz.

Do not disturb currently can only be toggled on and off in the quick settings panel, there is no Automatic expire or countdown. You can however set a schedule and that can be used to end DND,

but a work around is to use 3rd party apps, like DND Timer Tile

    • Perfect - one problem solved
      Much appreciated

I have an S9+ and I get the playable messages for voicemail so I don't have to call 101. I am using the stock standard Samsung messaging app

I googled DND, all I got was Dungeons & Dragons lol. Didn't know it was built into phones these days!

what is DND? why speak in code…

Voice message - on pixel 101 voice messages come up as playable in Messages - no need to dial in to Messagebank

are you saying it's annoying that it comes up as playable in messages??

    what a poorly written post.

      Do not disturb I think.

    • he is saying on the pixel it comes up as playable messages whereas on his phone you have to call message bank to get them which is annoying, not that difficult to understand

    • Apologies if misleading
I guess if you don't know DND is Do Not Disturb in a mobile forum I am guessing you couldn't answer the question anyway
Annoyance solved above with app via @Scrimshaw

I am saying that I prefer 101 voice messages to come as a Messages attachment
having to dial in to 101 to retrieve them is slower and annoying

  • can confirm on my Samsung S10-5G and sons A20, hitting DND on notifications only allows on and off. However when i go into meetings i hit DND on my samsung gear s3 smartwatch it allows me to set DND for 1/2/3 hours(which sets my phone to DND for the amount of time i chosen also).

as for voice messages i dont listen to any, so cant help you there

  • SG-S8 > While useful, it is also really annoying to have the voice messages on your phone as they appear in the music app and will play as a track.
If they could separate that out so they do not get picked up by the music player then that would be fine.

If there is a setting to change this that anyone knows about then please share and thanks in advance..

  • Voice Message issue isn't the actual phone itself but your carrier i believe. I'm with optus and i dont have a message bank, i get my messages through text as playable audio, and i have an S10+. Would try calling them to configure it.

    • Same Telstra sim swapped from Pixel 1 to A20 - so not a carrier issue I suspect

      • Also I didn't configure it when I swapped to Pixel - it was just a feature
