I bought the $1 coffee from a Caltex on Hume highway a couple of years ago when they first started, and had to throw it away after a couple of sips. But the comments here indicate like they have improved now.
Depends on the machine used we updated the machines starting about 8 months ago most Caltex’s have the new model now, but some way out there stores may still have the old one. The new ones do a much better job now and don’t burn the beans / milk. people tend to really like it.

I once posted that I thought their coffee was OK, boy was I wrong. The hot chocolate and mocha are good though.
