WBC Altitude Black Virgin Lounge Passes Payment

Have the partner signed up to the Westpac black altitude card with Velocity points. Similar to the Qantas version you need to make a spend at Virgin to get the passes. With Qantas you can pay for a carbon offset ~$2. I am struggling to find a way to pay a carbon offset on Virgin or a similar cheap payment to get the lounge passes. Does anyone know of a workaround?

JFerret was the first to enlighten me to the Qantas workaround https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5443682/redir

  • MEL —> AVV 7 cents - cheapest I could find that would trigger using JFerret's link.

    • Yeah, I am after one for Virgin sorry

  • i tried the qantas hack mentioned. these didnt activate my passes.
Qantas ultimate card amex, and qantas business rewards amex.

I soon after booked a flight using both cards and the merchant details were different, so maybe qantas has fixed this.

Interested to see if others have had success within the past 3 months with qantas using the above.

    • I used this for my Westpac card and received the passes within a week to my QFF account. Did this a few weeks ago

      • Do you recall how much your carbon offset cost? Mine was $0.97. It's been 3 weeks and I still haven't received my passes. Read somewhere that it needs to be >$1

        • Mine was over $1. However T&C don't state a minimum anywhere

          • @knobbs: Thanks. I've just paid for a $1.04 offset. Let's see if this works

    • Have you called them? I did it a few years ago using this method, and had to call them and get them to send the passes.

  • You can use the Hold This Price feature. cost about 15 dollars and it holds the price for 2 days.

Can you not use it to book your air ticket?

Don't have anywhere I need to go right now

You can just let the pricehold lapsed. don't have to proceed with the booking.

But note the 15 dollars hold fee is not refundable.

If you are desperate, 15 dollars to activate 2 lounge passes is prob not too bad.
