  • Any comments on both? I am looking to buy one soon.

    • I sat in the copenhagen. Felt the seat part was a bit on the long side. Slightly uncomfortable but could be annoying in the long run.

The biggest issues I find with cheap chairs are stability and the amount of padding, particularly under your butt.
As an example, I have a chair from Office Works I paid around 150 for. It was comfortable at the beginning, but within 12-18 months, the bottom padding has compressed to the point where it was almost like sitting on a wooden chair. It was rated for 5 hours of use with a 5 year warranty.
You need to aim for a chair that is rated for 8+ hours of use and a 10 year warranty. The more butt padding the better.
Fake leather is bad as well, avoid at all costs, it will crumble over time.

      • Agree but keep in mind, good PVC can still be good leather for chairs.

  • The monaco one doesnt look too bad, anyone have any experience with it?

"This chair has a recommended usage time of 3 - 5 hours"

International Airlines: "We'll take your entire stock!"

  • Just buy a used Herman Miller Mirra chair on Ebay/Gumtree for $125. Will last you 20 years unlike these.

    • I’ve got one of those. Mine was dated 2003 which is still great considering it’s 16 years old now. The gripe is that the seat mesh is already quite saggy and the foam needs replacement.

    • What is your usage. As I am looking to get something which I will use 8 hours 5 days a week for my home office.

If you have handyman skills, consider buying a car seat (~$50) from the wreckers, and add the base from an old office chair to it.

Wood is the best material for this, it's much easier to obtain the correct angles for the seat mounting bolts. Just be aware that the horizontal part of car seats are quite thick, you will probably have to mount the base inside the horizontal part of the car seat.

Car seats retain their comfort for many years, and don't wear out.

Unfortunately, wreckers don't expect to sell car seats, so they don't take care of them. At the wreckers I have seen, the car windows are open, and the seats have been rained on. Get your seat from a car that has just come in, if you can.
