Disputing with Paypal

I recently bought a fake USB drive from ebay.
I filed a dispute case against the seller through paypal
The seller has deregistered from ebay
but paypal is not helping either.

I paid through using credit card as I don't believe
on Paypal Buyer Protection Policy

Has anyone ever dispute with paypal?
How is the resolution with them?

Comments

  • What's happened with your dispute? Have done a few of these (in the past month) for fraudulent transactions and if the seller is not registered I believe it will be escalated to a claim.

  • Has anyone ever dispute with paypal?

    Yep

How is the resolution with them?

Usually ebay seller accepts it without question
or denies it(and then accepts after proof- i had a broken filter)

BUT if the seller doesn't respond within X number of days(not sure how many now) you will "win" the dispute and money will be refunded back to you, but i have never dealt with deregistered sellers

  • yes I have escalated to the claim
But paypal has made a minimal attempt to solve the case
    by offering partial refund.

I am thinking to report the case to Department of Fair Trading
    against paypal
    and chargeback my credit card

Paypal doesn't make ANY attempt on anything.

You are dealing with the SELLER. The seller is who has offered you a partial refund, not Paypal.

Dept of Fair Trading is irrelevant. You just make yourself look like a goose, and waste public resources.

Wait until the claim/dispute has been closed. If the seller is unregistered, the chances are you will get a refund. If not, you can initiate a chargeback through CC.

  • yeah never had that happen but i am very sure you will get your money back and also get to keep the fake usb

You need to PROVE that the USB is fake. Paypal will NOT accept your "claim" that it is fake… the onus of proof is on the accusor, not the accused.

So, here is how to fix it:

    a) get h2testw
    b) run report
    c) attach test report to claim
    d) request FULL refund, also state that you will provide a Stat Dec that you have destroyed the item
    e) escalate the claim

read this (one of many such sites)

You just have to make it easy for Paypal by telling them what you want done. If you sit back and be negative, then you're playing into the seller's hands.

  • I bought a pair of headphones that never turned up and they surprisingly refunded me, no questions asked.

LOL - What do you mean "surprisingly? The whole idea of paying by Paypal is so you get refunded when that happens.

    Thanks for all the input

I will file the charge back with mastercard
and report the case to Department of Fair trading

    Paypal is bunch of useless

    • "I paid through using credit card as I don't believe
      on Paypal Buyer Protection Policy"

so you are paying with your cc directly to the seller? not via paypal? one thing that i don't understand, why you filed a dispute case against the seller through paypal?

if you paid not via paypal, so this is not paypal job to solve the issue.

do i missed something in here?

I PAID with paypal using my credit card

    Stop given unnecessary comments

    • i just need clarification. if you don't want unnecessary comment on this forum, you shouldn't post this in the forum in the first place.

your comment is not clear in the first place. i am not the first person that confuse with your story.

      • In my post that you quoted, I am perfectly clear on what is happening.

I was just TRYING to explain to "know-it-all" that it wasn't Paypal that offered a partial refund.

And I'd love to see the reply from Dept Of Faqir Trading. That will be priceless. ROFL

AHHH - I SEE! So you came and posted here to ask:

Has anyone ever dispute with paypal?
How is the resolution with them?

And then when people reply to assist you, you tell us not to make "unnecessary comments"?

OK, well it seems that you have it ALL worked out, huh?

Such a bloody expert, yet you don't even understand the concepts of Paypal protection, the dispute / claim process, what to do to ensure you get refunded, etc.

No wonder you have difficulties! Good luck to you… ignorance is bliss.

  • paypal is a world wide company it will take time to get things done.
