Downloading documents for Uber drivng

My lively Nepalese flatmate student wants to sign up to drive Uber.

He is having some problems trying to sign up

Apparently he has downloaded his personal documents passport, licence etc but then the 5th question says he must download his vehicle rego and insurance, now he doesn’t have a car ,he wants to rent one so hw does he fill in that area which wont let him continue on the website until he does

He tried ringing their number and it went to the Phillipines and the operator kept telling him to go to rent a car ,however it appears the operator maybe wrong or right

Does he need to rent the car first then dowmload the registration?

Also he also is thinking of doing a pushbike or scooter for Ubereats , i have told him of the dangers in doing this, especially in Sydney at night, riding in rough areas ,eg Waterloo, Redfern etc
Anyone do ubereats?

The car would have to be leased, not rented, rental cars will cost more per week than they could earn …

Push bike is more profit (don't have to lease a car)

But yes, if they want the details of the vehicle that he will use, he'll need to have a vehicle to provide those details …

  • Unfortunately he is only new to Australia ( Sydney) and a bit naive at 21 .

I dont think its a great idea to be riding a pushbike around Sydney at night

How well do you actually know Waterloo / Redfern?
I've lived in the area since 2017 and don't find it dangerous ( but I don't have to deliver food to Northcott, William McKell or the Towers). The biggest danger is the Uber riders dark clothing, lack of lights and inability to comply with basic road laws.

    • Yeah, Redfern is fully gentrified now. Not sure what OP was on about there.

      • I wouldn't quite say "fully" but it's no worse than a lot of other places.
